I don't care either way. I guess it's a matter of preference.

If it's purpose is to aid in prolonging the life of a turbo and keep a manual transmission in the "game"......why don't the big trucks have them? 10 to 18 gears of 40-60 psi all day long. Those turbo's don't seem to have a problem.

Most of the turbo's I see being replaces on big trucks are because of oil starvation and 500,000 + miles of use.

Just curious.

There is no throttle on a desiel engine. So no backing up of boosted air through the compressor.

Excellent point and I agree. Is the turbo still not slamming into a closed valve in head?

I know when I let off the throttle to shift, the turbo makes a horrendous shriek.

Straight pipes on a C15.

That has to do with the relationship of engine speed to the volume of combusted gases exiting the cylinder.
