I went to the junk yard this weekend and picked up a couple pairs of jounce bars (front lower frame supports) and was surprised that the two pairs were different. One pair from a mid 80's Olds were light weight at about 1 Lb 5 oz (mail scale) each. They were smooth like seamless steel. The other pair was from a 1980 Pontiac and was much heaver at 1 Lb 15 OZ a piece. They were much rougher steel. The diameters of both sets were identical but the pressed ends differed from .175 for the Olds set to .220 for the Pontiac set. It is a rough assumption that the tubing wall thickness is half the measured thickness of the smashed ends. The Pontiac bars feel much sturdier than the Olds. Anyone know if there was a certain year change in the thickness of the bars?

I am sure both sets will work great, I just wanted everyone to know that there are differences.
