ok while I was coming back from NSRA event I decided to put in 87 octane since I was gonna be on the hiway not using boost, man did it ping when I did use any boost, had a monitor 4000e hooked up and it wasnt showing any knock. so do I need a new knock sensor too? but I did get 21.69 mpg with the gas. :)
I did that exact same thing "once" I thought wouldnt matter on hiway, we were going to car craft in carbondale, IL. (years ago)
I got there still had a half tank, couldn't raise hell in the car. i tried dilluting it with 93, but it still pinged. i was so mad i felt like draining the tank. this was in a 5.0 w/ s-trim supercharger. sorry for rambling, your post just brought back memories

well the darn thing wasnt even plugged in, so I plugged it in and ill check for knock after I get the coil pac on.

It is really possible that an overtighted knock sensor can pick up a knock? My gn had an engine replaced before I bought it and is getting a reading of 77 on scan tool but I dont hear any noises. wondering if I might have same problem.
