I am still learning about these Turbo Buicks and am finding out that there is a lot more to these cars than meets the eye!
A couple months ago I replaced the blinker relay because my turn signals were flashing very fast. Even with a modern electronic relay, the signals still blinked the same
. Today I was searching the forums for a reason why my reverse lights were not working, and I learned that there are two relays for the blickers; one for the hazards and one for the turn signals. BINGO! I had replaced the blinker relay in the fuse block (hazards), not the one under the steering column (turn signals) . I swapped the relays around and now my turn signals are flashing normally.
Then, Last week while I was cruising thru town, A good samaritan pulled up along side me and told me that my brake lights weren't working, but the middle cyclops brake light was working. When I got home I did a quick search here and learned that it was probably a problem with the white wire in the steering column connector. After I took out the hush pad and testical heater/cooling vent plate under the dash, Sure enough- I saw that the white wire was frayed going into the connector. I cut the wires on both sides of the connector and crimped them together with a butt connector and my brake lights worked again!
It's always sumthin' with this car. I love it to death though, and I am very grateful for the wealth of knowledge and helpful members that are here! I do a search here and the answer is usually there right in front of me.
Now, To find out why the power locks/dome light/radio fuse keeps blowing immediately when I put a new fuse in......
Thanks!!
