I've been wanting to put LEDs into my analog cluster, as the lights are terrible that are in there now. I have some LED strips sitting around from another project.

Before I open the dash, is there somewhere to stick the strips so that they won't be seen when it's put back together?

I figured I'd just wire it into the same circuit as the incandescent bulbs with resistors and leave one in so that the car will still charge.

If it were me, I'd spend the cash and get replacement specific lamps. After having my dash apart, I wouldn't think you could hide a strip of led's from view, but the led suppliers can replace a specific model number (let's say 1157's as an example) with a led lamp that will plug into the same socket as the original. At the very least you won't have to hack up your harness. Good luck either way.

We have the best solution....we have a kit that puts 7 bars of LED lites inthe analog dash each bar has 4 leds on it....it works great...here is the problem with your idea as presented....

Our dash set up for illumination is crude at best....the problem is the lite socket once you exmaine it is over one inch away from where the lite needs to show. simply putting a LED lite inthe stock socket is notgoing to throw the lite where you want it.

Again not trying to convince you to buy our custom set up but trust me its the way to go. We have sold quite a number of them.

You will be able to see for yourself whenyou remove one of your sockets and see the distance involved. Its ashame our dash is not back lit so you can't get lite to shine thru a solid metal plate.

My system works great......

plus simple to install even I did it myself...

same time we also made a plug in low fuel circuit that now lites up the low fuel warning.

just buy 194 bulb number led with resistor built in thats what i did in 2008 have all blue still working good!! only issue i had when installing had to take whole cluster apart and insert bulb from front the head of bulb was to big to fit threw back but when in the bulb fits great!!
