let off throttle to shift

I just got my 200r4 trans in my 1975 nova and i have to let off the gas to get it to shift or wind it up to 5500 RPM. Is this a TV cable adjustment or other problem.It is a TCI street fighter trans with a 2500 RPM stall converter.3.73 gears and a 406 small block with a magnum 270 cam.I think it has enough vacume.Thanks in advance.

Likely a TV Cable adjustment.

Loosen the cable (move housing towards front of car) a couple of clicks at a time and see if it improves the shift.

That is what i was thinking,I am new to this type of transmission.

But there's only one correct setting for the TV, @ WOT the cable is tight.
Do you have the correct geometry on the carb?

What carb do you have? A Holley doesn't give the right geometry, a Qjet does though. But you can make it right by making an arm yourself or by a kit.

I have a edelbrock airgap intake with a 2" spacer,750 speed demon carb.I got the correct brackets for the TV cable and throttle .

But you still need the correct arm on the carb.
