Still great items. Don't know why I like model/toy trains so much. Guess from when I was a kid. I am always going to check out when the Lionel Collectors show up at our mall and put on the displays with the mountains and tunnels and such. :D

Judging by the Automated Milk Car (which is EXPENSIVE) that set is circa 1972. I have most of what you have there. My grandfather bought 2 large sets and set them up in his basement when I was born. I now have the entire set in my garage boxed up.

Find a hobby shop that specializes in train sets, get it appraised, sell'em and put an addition on your house - or buy another TR.

Do you think they're worth that much? I have all of the above plus some MUCH earlier trains -- stamped painted metal lionel.

No way is that set any later than 1960. By '72 MPC owned Lionel and everything was getting pretty crappy. No offense but those trains are in rough shape. Not only are they dirty but in the first two pics the corners are busted off of the cab, a few pictures down the actual light housing is missing from the searchlight, the roof is gone off of the shed and the boxes are in pretty sad shape. I'm not saying they should be given away but they are not worth premium price. Just look in your phone book and find a train dealer/hobby shop and let them look at them and give you an appraisel. The books rely too much on the owners idea of condition.

I would be intersted in them if the price is fair. Let me know what the hobby shops say.
