I have a basic recipe car. TA-49, THDP, Hooker duals and 9" K&N airfilter. Taking off from a stand still the car will spool up quick to 15-16 lbs, but then right around the shift into 2nd the boost will drop to 8-10 lbs and come back up to 15-16 in 4-5 seconds. I have unhooked the knock sensor and it helped but not much. I got smoked by a 2002 Camaro SS the other night. I pulled him off the line hard then he whooped me bad in 2nd. The car really lets up when to boost backs down. Anybody have any thoughts.

First off, LET ME SMACK THE EVER LIVING S..T OUT OF YOU FOR PULLING THE KNOCK SENSOR WIRE OFF AND GOING WOT.

There is a reason its pulling boost, its called knock. What kind of chip? Is it setup for racegas and your running pump gas?

You dont know the damage you will cause by unplugging the knock sensor, you will snap a crankshaft by next week.

OK, let me chill out now.......

What you need to do is varify how much timing is in your chip, and if the octane you are running is enough to keep the detonation away.

Hopefully you have a scantool telling how much knock retard you are having.
Race it with 1°-3° on the shift is fine, what your doing is probably 30° of timing not being pulled and will kill that poor little motor.

The boost dropping off IF ITS NOT KNOCKING, is probably a simple loose intercooler hose leak right where the turbo meets the intercooler.

Last 2 guys i saw unplugging their knock sensors spent 3K on new motors, unfrigginbelieveable.

BW

oh no no dont unhook knock sensor bad news . i had similar prob before and it was waste gate actuator diaphram bad replaced actuator ok now .but first ck all hoses.you also need scanmaster or other scanner so you can see what is happening.trust me well worth the money it has saved my motor a few times
