MAF drop out?

What exactly is MAF drop out and what causes it? I was just reveiwing my DS files from last night and noticed on one run I had 2 episodes of drop out where it went from 255 to 40 and 255 to 39 at different times during the pass...none of the other 5 passes had this.

That sounds like MAF drop out to me. You need to have the chip take that into account. Who's chip do you have? It happens because the ECM sees so much air going through the MAF it thinks something is wrong. Have you chip guy fix that.

Shortly after I made this thread I spoke with Eric and he said that he has a 255 MAF lock and even though the Ds said the MAF dropped to 39/40, the car was still fueling like it was 255...problem resolved.
