I waited all last week to get a column for my 93 t/a from out of state through a local junkyard. Went through the trouble of cleaning it up, puttin the shift lock cable in and everything. Got it all bolted up and the column is loose around the tilt:mad: . This car has been sitting for over a week now and will probably be another one. Hopefully the salvage yard makes it right or someone is gonna get an arse chewin, at the least (BBB)! I'm not a happy camper, especially burning up some of that liquid gold in my heater for over an hour:mad:

Not the point, but any good mechanic can pull that column apart and tighten that up.

You can get to 2 out of the 3 screws without having to tear too far into the column. Do a search online about the columns

Yeah, I got three out of the four on mine. The only reason I didn't pull it the rest of the way apart was because I didn't have a Pivot Pin Puller for the tilt pins. You will need a steering wheel puller, lock ring puller and that pivot pin puller. If you can get a hold of these three items, the job should not be that bad.

My stock column loosened up and I tightened the bolts. Later on, I replaced the stock column with a low mieage one out of an 86 and it did the same thing as soon as I installed it. Iv'e had two of them almost all the way apart. It's a common problem so it's going to be hard to find a used column that doesn't need this repair.

Yes I could do it myself, done it so many times on my old camaro it was like oil changes:biggrin: ! Like said, not the point. I talked to one of the salesmen and he said it shouldn't even have been sent out. He's getting me another asap:cool:

Is it the bolts that are loose.Or is it the pivot pins worn in housing. replaced a lot of bearing supports in those cars when i worked for chevy. steering wheel is only thing people have to pull them out of those types of cars. When i bought my corvette the coulmn support was busted.that part from chevy is $500.00 . I had a column out of a 92 firebird so i took it apart and the support was the same part number on it:confused: we were never allowed to replace an entire column at the dealer . I would see if you can just get some cash back and fix it yourself. good luck

Bolts are loose. I'm pretty much at the point where I am sick of working on cars. Just wanna replace it and be done with it. After all, its the wife's car anyway, not mine. I just get to maintain it:rolleyes: Drove the n/a regal to work again today and was thinking "damn it's slow, but it's nice shape, reliable, everything works and nothing rattles. Some days I don't even think about the turbo T cause it stresses me out thinking about all the work/parts/$$$ it needs (where do I begin?). I drove it for about a week before it got cold and put it away cause all it did was remind me of a junker, aside from what's under the hood of course;) Here I go again, ramblin:redface:
