Assuming a stock turbo/intercooler,D5 convertor, stock wastegate rod, etc. what would be the quickest a turbo Buick would run on 93 octane?
Mods would include hot wired stock pump,TT 93 octane chip,K&N filter and cheater slicks

Good weight transfer, sticky track, a good boost controller to get the turbo to spool quick with the D5 TC, you may be able to whittle it down to a high 12. I forget who it was, but there is someone on gnttype.org who ran 11's with stock stuff, but that car was running 30+psi, the alignment was set up to give the minimum amount of tire drag with the front end higher in the air, loose wheel bearings, suspension work, etc....alot of attention to details. But he was also on race gas, the car lightened up a bit I think, and it took awhile to get down to that number. In the popular mechanics article where they tested all these old hot rods vs. new ones, there was one guy who had a mostly stock T-Type. He brought boost up to 22psi and threw race gas in, and ran a 12.4 I think. With a power plate, cold plugs, alot of attention to suspension details, and maybe some S-10 wheel cylinders to bring launch boost up, with ALOT of tuning to run 18psi at max with 93, and the high 12 should be possible. I would strongly recommend the power plate and an RJC boost controller, and a good chip that you can tune yourself. Also dont rule out all the little things that most people dont think about, which increases airflow and reduces the pressure drop through the IC, like cutting off the rolled lips off the up-pipe, bellmouthing the IC inlet and outlet, bellmouthing the TB and possibly the turbo, doing some porting/radiusing of the compressor housing, porting the exhaust elbow if you dont have an aftermarket DP, get a dump pipe, and a good intake tube can give you an extra 1-2psi. Open the TB blade and look for a sharp edge where the TB bore meets the upper lid bore...cut that sharp edge out...all sharp edges hurt airflow tremendously and heat the air up, especially at high boost. Cleaning all the oil out of the intake manifold and IC will allow more boost without detonation. Itll take some imagination to get that car into the 12's with all that stock stuff on 93 octane.

If you were to thow alky injection into the mix it would give you a lot of room for et reduction and major hp increases.

I'd really like to leave the car as stock as possible, other than the mods I all ready have.I have no problem with a low/mid 13 second ET on 93 octane and 16-17 lbs. of boost if that is possible.

Buy some M/T drag radials. They will help a lot.

I have a pair of Hoosier QT DOT Pro's 26 X 15 X 9.5"
I'm thinking the S10 wheel cylinders and the tires.
Stock the car went 14.33 @ 96 MPH with a 2.30 ft. on street tires.Off idle launch.

my car is lo mileage stock setup and has gone 13.28 at 105.88 on the standard size street tires, boost controlled by chip at about 16 lbs. on pump gas. this was with a lousy 2.13 60ft time. this is exacty how i drive it on the street with no kr. i know what you mean about getting a stock street set up to perform. that has been my goal. my only mods are reds xp pump, atr test pipe with hooker exhaust, 237 regulator, 160 stat, solid maf pipe with 8in. kn filter and a dutt neck. the dutt neck and huffman intake really bring more air into the motor. I picked up about 1-2 lbs of boost. still no kr if i add some 100 oct. next performance step for me would be to get an adjustable fuel reg and see if i can add alittle more fuel, I am on the edge with o2 at 760 or so.

16-17 lbs is a tall order on a stock turbo with a stock intercooler.

I ran 8.32 in the 1/8 on 14.5 psi boost with the stock turbo/intercooler.... that is low 13's.... 1.81 60' time on ET Streets.... some have gone that quick or quicker in the 60' with regular radials..... but that is the exception... not the rule.....

FWIW.... my opinion is 13.0 ..... but with only the addition of Razor's alky kit.... and properly tuned.... mid 12's are a piece of cake..... and better yet.... you can ride like that all the time.... I drove my car 100 miles/day getting on it whenever I wanted... and only consumed about 1 gal/week of methanol... in daily driving.....a hard night at the strip might go through a gallon (about $2.99 here).....

My opinion...is that is far and above the best single mod you can do to a stocker......just combine it with a good turbotweak chip.... and a scantool... and you won't regret it.....

 The 93 octane chip I got from Eric does that. The stock chip was 14 lbs. max on an aftermarket gauge.
I really appreciate everyone's input, this is great stuff

By this point.... I had adjusted the wastegate to give it more boost... but was still on a stock chip.... I couldn't go much higher without getting into knock....I could have had a chip burned with less timing and run more boost.... dunno.... it is a tradeoff boost for timing.... somewhere in the middle is a sweetspot.... but every combo is slightly different....

3" DP and the Hooker cat back is a good mod with a test pipe....

best bang for the buck.... Alchy and TT-chip! depending on the money and the time you want to spend, it can be stealthy, leaving you w/the stock appearance.
