ok my 3 inch dp band clamp isnt sealing all that well at the 2 piece connection so i need to replace it but im wondering what all the guys on here with the mease 3 inch dp r using to seal that connection? 3 inch band clamp or some other kind of seal clamp? maybe theres something better outthere i dont know about...( mid next year i plan on welding it together )

when i ran one i had the same problem. i finally welded it up

I'm running the wide band clamp on mine

I had to customize mine to make it play nicely with my kenne-bell headers, but my band clamp seems to be sealing fairly well. Mine is pretty freaking hard to get apart even after the band clamp is off. It is a 2 person job wrestling the pipes apart.

We use a v band type clamp you can get from Lane automotive, in different sizes, but mine is a one of a kind down pipe we had built for the car. You may want to check out their web site and see if that will help you.

i did see a v band clamp and a band clamp thats for a sleeve fitting like our dp but i dont see the difference in the 2 styles what is the v band clamp style for exactly?

V-band clamps are good for sealing...

My kenne-bell headers use those for the header to cross-over pipe connections.

V Band Exhaust Clamp

Basically is a pair of bell mouthed pipes squeezed together by a clamp the entire diameter of the opening.

When I had my 84 I used a 3" Band clamp that I put on VERY tight. Be sure that you have the exhaust hanger near the converter to help take some of the weight off the downpipe.

The V band clamp would be the best route however you would need to have the Mease pipe modified to accept it.

Any good fabricator should be able to modify easily enough as far as my exhaust now my up pipe and cross over use v band clamps as well and we have no more leaks.

your car is old enough now... lol... just weld a 45* on the end of it pointed downward and have one bad @$$ sounding hot air!!!

lol

I "had" a mease and just as Herb said, a really tight band clamp should do the trick...
