patient just moved to area from out of state, doctor gave our number to call for oxygen, (dont think i have to explain how important oxygen is) because of her new current address being inside the competitive bid area we could not service.
i gave here medicare's number and they told her to call me
, we were not awarded contract, so i called medicare myself 3 times and both times i was told to go on there website and find a supplier which i had done three times. because no one was able to supply her O2 in a timely fashion patients family forced to take patient to hospital, where they stayed until the matter was cleared up (2 days)
so where are the savings?
hospital stay around here are $2,000.00+ a day
O2 is $138 PER MONTH
that 29 months of O2 payments lost to hospital stay.
I know that something has to be done since old system was running out of money, but this is not it. If you think this wont affect you thing again, competitive bid is coming to 99 counties in 2013.
