My cousin has one. Its an 05. The car is 535 hp stock. We brought the the thing to 130 in 4th and its a 6 speed. He got a ECU chip in it that brings it up to 722 hp. When he needs service done by the dealer he has to deactivate the chip. Thats why it wasnt in. That car must fly with the chip. Awesome car.

The owner of the dealer I work at had a 05 sl65. same engine. stock they are rated at 604hp/738tq. very fast cars. He got rid of it for a long going fiber optic fault the dealer could not find. they finally after 6 attempts trying to fix it, bought the car back. I drove it once....had the best throttle responce of any car I have ever driven.

When we were driving it we would be cruising at around 40, he stepped on it and we wre at 130 in no time. What really amazed was how smooth and quiet it was . You were right about the 604 hp. I dont know why i was thinking 535.
Anyway did you ever take your buick to the track.

120 hp with a chip change? Umm yea ok.. show me real dyno number bub:rolleyes:

Believe it. I have a friend who owns one. The car is stock and ran 8.20's at 84 mph and weighs 4900# The chip change is good for over 100hp. Think about it, a V12 with twins that only makes around 550hp stock is seriously detuned from the factory. The kicker with the chip change is it's somethng like $3k:eek:

car

I've seen the car run that fast. I was their that night testing the gn out. the car dusty's talking about. with 4 people in the car.

Chris, Im victor. Im not sure if you knew this was me but when i wrote the thread i was talking about your car. Anyway did you guys hit any traffic on the way back to the city.

welcome aboard victor.no traffic at all.the car is very strong. The car was brought over from europe unmodded and was specced out at 535 hp.with the transmission and ecu upgrades, airbox, ceramic coated exhasut system etc. it is right at 700 horsepower at 5400 rpms and 850 ft lbs at 3200 rpms.the car shifts wide open throttle at 5900 rpms.very conservative.the engine is all aluminum ,and i believe the car weighs 4600 lbs.idles at 500 rpms in gear like the engine is not even running.very fun to drive.next spring im planning on some additional upgrades.the rear axle ratio is 2.65 and im going to try to locate a 3.08 ring and pinion which is available and install it ,reprogram the tcu and go to the track.

Where are going to get the 3.08s. Is it the place you showed me at the house, renntech?

Chris, I could swear he told me 6k-7k for the chip but I thought no way:eek: It's a sweat ride 4 sure. He ran a guy in an 04 Z06 with 2 other guys riding along. He treed the guy in the vette and won. All we could see going down the track was the guy in the back laughing his a$$ off.

Here's the slip from the race with the Z06. Later the benz went a low 1.9 60 foot and ran a high 8.20. Z06 in the left lane.....

kinda reminds me of the early 80s when i delivered pies during high school. My 73 pontiac GP blew a water jacket so my boss (owner) loaned me his 6.9-litre 450SEL ,back and forth to school and pizza delivery, I put a serious whoopin on this dumb jock whos daddy bought him a Chevelle SS.

I can say i had alot of fun in that car for the 3 weeks i had it

there are other models that come with the 3.08 axle ratio.they should be able to be ordered thru mb usa.the reason i got involved with the cars was i was assisting a good friend at benz corporate corporate in manhattan with laptop programming the tcu on an 2004 s55 sedan (with renntech engine management system)and nearly crapped myself on a road test.after that i knew i had to get one. There are 3 dealerships in the usa with people that can program killer ecu tables for this one of a kind car.ive had it up to 145 and its not even awake yet.

Can get an early 2000's 600 SL for less then $50K - what was it new, $115K?

I think some MB owners are nervous about the service the car may need as it starts to age.

the car new is @140,000.the early ones your seeing are not turbocharged.they added the twin turbo in 2004,the s600 is a four door full sizer like a caprice.

That would be the AMG or something, right? Or are you saying the S600 is standard a twin turbo.
