with typical daily driving, how long would a 55gal drum last? Reason I ask is if methanol in the drum, once open and not used quickly enough, will degrade, go bad or get less potent over time.

55 gallons? Would probably last you 5 years or more.

Pretty much treat it like rubbing alcohol in your medicine cabinet. Alky never goes bad. Keep it clean, keep it from evaporating, and put the cap on when your done.

Pre-winter price = $12/gal (min 5 gal). Prices will go up in winter due to use in washer fluids, ...
