Mounting grill emblem??

I just picked up a new "Buick" grill emblem and it didn't come with any mounting/fastening hardware. I've never really looked closely at how these emblems mount up...can someone please tell me what I need to install it?

The emblem has 2 plastic posts, and, on the back it is attached with the "sheel metal type" nuts. Same "nuts" that mount the bumper strips.

Ok, is there some kind of a backing plate that supports the emblem and the nuts?

No. The backing plate is molded onto the grille. Those speed nuts are 5mm ID and they can be had on the hardware and trim fastner racks at AutoZone or NAPA.

I took at my grill today and it doesn't have any provisions for a grill emblem Hell, even if it did the emblem is too wide for the slots in the grill. Did all the non-gn cars come with an emblem on the grill?

Do you have an all black grille? No chrome at the top?

Maybe someone took out the grille and ground down the mounting points for the emblem? I had thought about doing that on mine, but seeing what '87 Grilles are going for....

My car has the black grill with the chrome across the top like the 86 GN's have...Now I'm wondering if the car has the correct grill. I will try to post a pic for opinons.

hi joe is your car a 86 or 87? the 86 say t-type. look at the pics i sent you of my car. the 1st one in the photo show.the buick will not work on a 86 grill.:biggrin:

It's a late production 1987 with a chrome topped grill like the 86 GN's have. It's has chrome bumpers with the blackout trim. Someone else a while back said the grill might not be correct for the car...I'd love to know becuase someone out there needs a real good condition 86 grill.
