Muffler ?

Hi,

Has anyone used the GN-1 performance "Pit Bull" muffler in place of the ATR original "Pit Bull" muffler???Like many I'm trying to reduce the drone... The website claims it don't drone like the old P.B. muffler and it is polished and looks like the old one....

I run them on my GN but I am probably a bit biased as I also sell them! No drone on my GN in fact they are actually quieter than I expected. Just remember, these are 3" diameter. Not sure if that is the size of the ATR exhaust you have. If you are interested in buying a pair I have a couple sitting on the shelf here.

The old pit bulls were loud at idle, loud at cruise, and quite at WOT when compared to a Magnaflow. The Magnaflows were quite at idle, less drone at cruise, but at WOT, sounded like no muffler. Also the Pypes Race Pro vs the Violator. The Violator is like an old Pit Bull, where the Race Pro is like a Magnaflow. With that said my experience is with 2.5" dual set ups both turbo V6 and some V8. A single 3" is drone prone. Maybe try a glass pack type muffler or a small Magnaflow in place of the cat. I don't think the GN1 muffler is exactly like the Pit Bull inside. The Pit Bull and Violator are slotted wrapped straight through type, the Magnaflow, Race Pro, and maybe the GN1 are perforated wrapped straight type mufflers.

Ok.......here we go again........The ONLY way to eliminate drone is with a cross flow muffler installed in the stock location. Search "three muffler system". Lots of good info and pictures. And for those that clain their XYZ system doesn't drone.............you need hearing aids worse than I do. (and after working on jets for 30+ years....I REALLY need hearing aids Now......it isn't going to be cheap or easy. Still waiting for a vendor to step up and offer the system.

No muffler at all offers less drone. If you want loud outside, cabin noise is a side effect. My 3.5" TH system has less drone than the ATR single shot I removed.

I finally went the Tuobofabricator cross-flow three muffler setup & got rid of the drone. With original stainless Pit Bulls, the TR was basically underivable on the highway due to drone.

Nawwwww..............It just "sounds" like less drone. All those years of the ATR system has killed your hearing.

I realize I can't do away with all the drone...Really just wanting something I can tolerate at a cruising speed...The idle don't bother me it's the drone at cruise speeds that get me!! Rob i'll look into the Magnaflow...Less drone at cruise, but louder at WOT sounds like combination I can live with...
