My 2004r been rebuilt 3 time in 2 months in warrenty of course my builder thinks the core is bad and want to take a 2004r out of a non turbo car and put the valve body out of a gn in it with a good shift kit is this a good idea or a bad ider I told him to wait until I do some research please give some advice

I believe the cases are the same. The valve body and governor are the difference.

I had the same problem once with a 4L60e...I switched builders and the problem went away. $1000 lesson learned.

I did have a 200 that the case leaked. I took a non BRF case and swapped all the good parts into it and was good.
The cases are the same. Its the internal parts that make a difference.

What do you think about getting the 2004R manual from CK Performance and giving that to your transmission technician? If he does not need the manual, you've identified the problem. Some soft talk might convince him that it is a good idea.

Of course your technician would not have to undertake every modification in the book. But at least the critical improvements might be considered.

What is the problem with the transmission? You have not given any information why it is being rebuilt.....
