I just had the heads freshened up on a 4.3L 91 GMC Sierra motor and I have everything back together but it won't start. I think the timing is off but I am not sure because I have never set timing manually before.
I think I have the firing order correct.
distributor
6 5
4 3
2 1
front eng.
the firing order should be 1-6-5-4-3-2
on the cap the plug terminals should be like this: "C" is coil terminal
5 4
6 C 3
1 2
I pulled the distributor out completely when redoing the heads but the truck didn't move...one day we put the trans in N and pushed the truck into the garage but that was the only moving the truck did...that didn't offset the timing did it? i figured i could put the distributor right back in where it was and the timing would still be the same as before...
when i try to start it...it cranks over but doesn't fire...all plugs are new and in...all plug wires are connected...coil is connected...everything electrically is connected...any ideas?
