Need help with 2004R downshifts

This is my 87 Olds Cutlass w/a stock 307 4 bbl.

When the car is cold,the trans functions totally correct,downshifts fine,upshifts fine @ WOT,etc.
After about 10-15 minutes,it will not downshift and it shifts very quick at a low rpm after leaving a traffic light,even at WOT
Trans is stock
Any ideas?

could be the torque converter is locked up .after it warms up try un pluging the 4 prong electric plug on the side of the tranny ...

I tried that this morning..does the same with it unplugged.




At least CZF trans I put into my 87 GN works good.
Got the plug I needed today from Chris @ CK so I can hook the GN harness up and have lockup in 4th gear

Not sure if the suggested unplugging of the 4 prong plug is the rig around this fix. But it sounds like this could be what is causing your issue.
