Can someone provide some pictures of their scanmaster where it is spliced into the aldl connector and the ign box? They say to use a spade connector, but I'm not sure how it would fit exactly or what it should really look like once completed

Any help with pics would be greatly appreciated

Chris

The SM has 3 wires:

White - crimp on 1/8" (i.e. small size) spade connector - plug into ALDL - port is top, second from left

Red - crimp on 1/4" (i.e. normal size) spade connector - plug into fuse box - spare IGN terminal

Black - crimp on ring connector - attach under 10 MM ground screw under dash behind and to the right of brake release handle

Depending upon where you mount the SM, you may have to extend the wires from the SM using more wire, solder, shrink tuning - for some reason the SM guys haven't figured out that they don't supply enough wire, even after selling thousands of them.

I solder everything; wire extension connections and the crimp terminals. Additionally, all of the joints were covered with shrink tubing.

One thing I did was to modify a Poston console dual gauge holder to hold the SM. I just found it annoying on top of the dash.

got a pic of that modification?

also, its hard to find a blade to fit in the back of the aldl. Pepboys has 'GM ECM" blade-looking pieces, but they have no sizes whatsoever listed. I found a .250 sized-spade one for the 12v ign so that is all good....

anyone know of a good part # or brand/desc to get the aldl one?

I put both my signal and my ground into the FRONT of the ALDL. Couldn't find 1/8" spade lugs, but when I put the 1/4" ones in the vise, and ran a file over the edge, they got narrower! :D Used a fuse tap to hook into the instrument fuse on the fuse block.

I will take a pic of the holder tonight. As for the blade connector for the ALDL I cut a 1/4" down to size. Major pain.

Thanks, I just wanna see what it looks like in the back of the aldl...i might just cut the wire going to 'E' and solder it all together

Sorry for not getting the pic of my SM holder up yet, the file is to big. I'll try shrinking it down tonight. I may try to post it in the Lounge.

Sorry for the delay. I used a Poston dual gauge holder, some styreen model train wall board, aluminum sheet (to hold the SM in place) and some socket screws (to follow the look of the horn ring). Total time invested about three two hour nights and around $30.
