I'm doing a quick clean up on a good running 84 hot air engine. As long as it's apart for new timing components, head rebuild and front cover/oil pump, I'd like to replace the rod bearings too.

My questions are:

How do I tell if the bearings are standard? (This engine was probably a GM replacement block as it has no engine number stamped into the number-pad and has all GM internals. The rod bearings that came out have part number 18005282 and GMM stamped into the back of the bearing shells.)

What rod bearings do you recommend?

Thanks!

That would be a standard rod bearing. I know they make a wide bearing, but don't know who makes them. I'm sure someone will post it up.

If you are interested, I have several sets of standard size original GM/Buick turbo V6 rod bearings $30 a set plus shipping.

I used federal mogual wide rod bearings on my buildup, the part number is 6-375APA,,got em thru summit racing---Jack
