Ok , I just got my new motor back and my tranny has about 1300 miles on it. Well for the past week or so the tranny has made a funny loud buzzing sound when put in reverse and low gear(only when I first start up, after it warms up it goes away), and I was told it was the PR boost regulator, and that it was a normal thing. Well now I've noticed that if I get on it in 1st gear or from a stop the shift really doesn't feel like it used to. Even at part throttle it feels softer. It is still a positive shift at part throttle(it used to rip your head off, and scratch the tires and my mom hated it:D ). But putting any power to it, the 1-2 feels really weak and shifts a little early. I have adjusted the TV cable tighter but, that only prolonged the shifts and didn't firm the 1-2. The 2-3 still hits hard and the overdrive feels good. Today when I left a light, it started off in 2nd, which it had never done. I am going to drop the pan tommorow, but what could be my main culprits? Here is a build up of my tranny. 200 4r, PTS 12" 2800 stall, PTS pump with upgraded valves, super servo, PTS custom anchor pin, adjustable servo pin, Alto 2 3/8" Band, billet forward drum and center support, bottom feeder sump, deep pan, hardened pump stator, new clutches and an ART CARR shift kit. stock governor. Thanks for any help.

Sound exactly like mine - when the pump was failing. I'd check it out before it gets to bad, mine cracked the hub on my PTS 9/11.

Well crap, thats not very encouraging. i'm about to drop the pam, ill update you guys on what I find.

Alright here is what I found. My filter is very dirty , its covered in what looks like hair fiber???? mixed with a little bit of clutch dust and small metal flakes. On the bottom of the pan, there is a metal dust that is not clutch material as it is shiny with different grains of metal(some look goldish, but could be from the copper sump.) The fibers on the filter are what are weird. Are these symtoms of anything particular or am I just going to have to delve deeper into this tranny. there is one slender metal peice about 1 cm long that is sitting on the bottom of the pan. I don't have a clue what it could be. Thanks

Keep us updated about your tranny. Mine does the same thing when cold. Put it in reverse and ZZZZzzzzzzz then it goes. I was going to throw a post up but you beat me to it.

Mine did these 2 things for about 5 years.. Spoke to Bruce and he shipped me out a new 1/2 accum spring and his high pressure TV kit. The 1-2 shift is not sharp. The buzzing never stopped tho.. Tho he never said they would :) Give Bruce a call. he will hook ya up

Well guys after getting 800 miles on my new motor, I had to pull the tranny. I'm pretty sure that the fibers i described above were from my band, and the metal particles are the drum where the band applies, or the band itself.(I havn't torn it all apart to see so I'm not possitive but its my most educated guess. ) I think the buzzing from the pr valve was just a coincidence but we'll see. Thanks for the help.
