Hello, Just got an 86 GN last month (18 year 5.0 owner). The car was 100% bone stock, 97k miles. Did the spring cleaning as well as a K&N, 3" Kirban DP, high flo cat and Pypes exhaust. Car runs nice. I think this is as far as I am going to go with the mods except for the turbo tweak chip and a boost gauge. Do I need to do anything with the fuel? Are the stock injectors and pump good for what I am going to do? What about the hotwire kit? Thanks.

Do a pump and hotwire kit. The Racetronix one is complete from battery to pump if you buy it all. The stock pumps were barely adequate for stock everything. At those miles, you should look at a new timing chain and valvesprings if they haven't been done already. Just a couple of other weak areas that need attention if you plan on driving it. A scanmaster is a good idea too so you can at least set your sensors and read any trouble codes if/when they show up. You'll need it to tune the TT chip too. You may also need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to set the fuel pressure to the TT recommended 43psi. See how the snowball grows quickly?

Enjoy the car and welcome to the community.

1) Scanmaster
2) Fuel Pump
3) Hotwire Kit
4) Valve Springs
5) Timing Set
6) Boost Gauge
7) Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator

I could prob add to this list.:D

What is the stock boost I should be making? I hooked up a gauge and see 10lbs. Is this too low? Thanks.

9) Adjustable Wastegate Actuator

I still have my stock wastegate actuator (just ordered the adjustable actuator). With the hypertech chip that was in my car when I got it I had 17psi and now with a Turbotweak chip I have 14psi. I have the stock chip but have never driven the car with it installed.

Boost pressure you can get away with depends on knock. 17 or 10 could be just right. Get a scanmaster and you will know.

First pick up a ScanMaster, then do your fuel pump & Hotwire kit.

As far as an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. If you want to stay with a stock looking engine, you can use a Bosch 237 regulator & that will provide the increased fuel pressure that you will need when you change to a performance chip.
