hello. I recently come to own a 1987 Regal Turbo. Its in really good shape and from what I can tell, near original condition. It has 72K original miles on it and i dont believe anything has been internally to the motor or trans. I do know some aftermarket products were bought for it some point during previous ownership. A mass air flow pipe was installed but later removed due to a hole from rubbing on a bolt. A Kenne Bell chip #9006, not sure if it is still in the car, have a chip in a plastic bag. The cat has been removed. Have paperwork for 160 degree thermostat, not sure if its still in. have paper for a quad air fuel enhancer, supposed to increase voltage to the fuel pump and fuel injectors. There is aftermarket wiring under the dash, but dont know if unit is working. oil tube breather kit. Also have a cold air intake kit that mounts under the bumper and requirs cutting the airdam. I was told it has bigger injectors and turbo, but dot know for sure.

first off i'd like to know if there is anyway to identify an aftermarket turbo and injectors. if theyve been upgraded, it saves me some time.

second id like to know what youd recommend on current modifications and updates. i dont really have any plans other than maybe run the drags once or twice just for fun. definetly want to enter in a few local car shows and take to Buick carlisle in the summer.

Welcome to the board! Send me some pictures to jasjamz4@yahoo.com and I will post them here for you until you get enough post to put them up yourself. Sounds like you have a few decent mods but more information will tell.

Get a Turbo Tweak chip. Scanmaster. And we needs some pics forsure. Do the spring cleaning. Vacuum lines, new fluids, plugs, ect. Spring cleaning list is on the forum here somewhere if I'm not mistken. Get it running properly before you start changing things.

Change the fuel filter. Bet its never been changed. Its located on the driver side frame rail near the rear tire.

x2 on Scanmaster, Scanmaster, Scanmaster!
Not a performance upgrade but this will allow you to monitor engine performance/behavior
without it you're driving blind
IMO it is a NECESSITY!
also, I replaced all my vac lines w/ silicone

Turbo Regal Web Site
go to tech page
for lots of good tech info including "spring cleaning"
along w/ turbo guide & injector guide

take pics of everything! document everything!
HTH!
D

Check the driver side manifold for a crack between 3-5. Fuel filter as mentioned,if your gonna take it to the track put a 700r4 filter in it and over fill by a quart.probably a shift would help too. The reason i mention the tranny stuff is i have taken stock cars like yours and and done nothing to a good stock working tranny and within a month they slip from beating on them. I should of listened when i was told. Fuel pump and hot wire kit. If your planning on turning it up close down the gap on your new spark plugs
