The Pinks All Out Episode that was filmed at the Texas Motorplex in September is finally scheduled for release.

According to the current schedule, Speed is going to run a Pinks marathon all day on Thanksgiving. The word is that this new pilot episode will run in the evening around 7:00pm CST. Be sure to check your own schedule when the time nears.

There were several from our organization (LSPBC) that participated in this new heads up event. If you are unfamilular with this new version, it does not require you to put up your title. One of our members, John N., was selected to participate with his beautiful 87 SII powered GN. I can tell you that John represented the Buick community well! John also skillfully served as the race director for the recently completed Buick vs Ford race in Noble, OK. I think that this episode will prove to be more watchable for some of you than the usual show. There was another notably fast 109 block TR that was selected in a runoff for the final 16 pairings. I hope that they will include him in the footage as well. I appologize that I have forgotten his name. Maybe someone out there can help me on this one.

To be fair to the producers, I'll just tell you that the massive crowd in attendance was really rooting for John and his GN to win! :D

Ok so... if you no longer put up your title, what is the concept?

The concept is, you'll stop having less primered, duct taped together hoopties, and actually have some decent cars on there :D

As for the prize? I don't know... *shrug*

It will be nice to see a better caliber of cars & owners on the program. Now all they have to do is loose the bald headed moron that does the Macarena on the starting line.

Someone put John and his car up on the TB Homepage.

He is what Going Fast With Class is all about.

Cash! The winners of round one were literaly handed a K roll of cash! Then it was used (at their agreed discression but not required) as a wager in the subsequent rounds. The overall winner won 10K in rolls of $1000.00 each plus the money they earned along the way.

Holy Crap, he has an emissions sticker on it.

Did the other cars he was racing pass DFW smog?

This was also ruined by the host. It was originally a heads up race for cash featuring cars you would see on the street. Lots of low 8 second cars were invited with no tubbed out gutted cars allowed. I was supposed to take the V8 car out. At the last minute we were told that anything faster than 10.0 would be eliminated. I even hear in the finals a car that had been winning rounds with very low 10's broke into the high nine's and won the race but the PINKS cash was awarded to the looser because he didn't go faster than 10.00:confused:

Wow, this really is breacket racing now... how lame :(

He was disqualified because it was determined by his sudden drop in E.T. that he had been sandbagging his way along. I'll also refer to a reply that I posted on another board concerning this as below.

There were some things about how the event was handled that I did not particularly care for either. The biggest and most important was that the event was advertised as a street legal event. John, was one of the minority in the group that fit that profile. However, from my understanding, everyone that was picked was choosen because they consistantly ran similar times in the 10sec range. That is, it was out of the fastest possible group of 16 similarly matched entries. There were plenty of faster cars there, but; there were not enough (16 cars) to create tight heads up races.

All of the prospective drivers were interviewed (both in the pits and in the staging lanes) prior to the final pairings by the camera crew. When asked what he would do with the money if he won, John's reply was unique to the other replies. Rather than saying that he would dump the money back into the car like most people, John honestly stated that he would use the money for his graduate school tuition. I think that it unintentionally struck a decisive chord with the crew. I am probably giving too much away. Therefore, I'll just say that I am hoping that the editing will still properly demonstrate what really happened.

What's next for this show, delay boxes & throttle stops running 10: 0's all day?? The 10 flat rule was probally in place for safety issues but a 10 flat car has not been a heavy hitter in the street racing scene in a VERY long time. Put a call out for the real street race cars, $5,000 entry for each car & team & the winner takes all. Run what you brung & hope you brought enough.

I dont really watch Pinks anymore, I got tired of seeing thrown together Mustang vs thrown together Mustang every episode. Hopefully this new one will bring some decent cars.
