The grey TR is owned by another Texan and TB member named Ryan. He was running real hard with his 109. Unfortunately, I think he blew the HG in round one against his opponent. It sounded real nasty when it went. I think that he had a pretty good chance of winning that round if that had not happened.
John actually made it to round 3 were he accidently forgot to flip the switch to turn on his transbrake. He just could not hold the boost down on the footbrake. Of course, by the time he realized that it was not on, it was too late. It only moved about 2ft but that was enough for Rich to call it a premature launch. I know that I would have definately been nervous in his shoes. He was really wanting the money to help pay for graduate school at SMU. They did tell us after it was over that his pass in round 2 was about a 10.09. I think that were it not for this accident, the ending would have been in his favor.
My only dissapointment is that in order to condense all the footage into one hour, a LOT of action was left out. They also managed to crop the some 10 of us down there on the starting line to support him. We were all wearing our "Big Bad Buicks" logoed T-shirts. It was much more fun being there and listening to the crowd go nuts everytime John advanced! There were people packing the balconies and hanging over the rails in front of all the luxury suites at the tower. It was like one big party.
