Last day of test and tune today and finally broke into the 12's only got in two passes here's how they went.

Pass 1 Pass 2

1.927 -60ft- 2.115
5.343 330ft 5.541
8.226 1/8 8.463
84.65 mph 83.00
10.750 1000ft 11.065
12.908 1/4 13.312
104.37 mph 99.72

18 psi pump gas and alky, blew a head gasket on the end of run one. Vacuum line at the fp regulator had a whole in it. Completely let loose on run 2 oil everywhere loaded up went home be back next year more boost more alky.

Sorry to hear about the motor.
Did you hurt anything besides a HG?
What is your combo?

Congrats on the new times  Sorry to hear about the HG :frown:
Sounds like youve got the right attitude though and have your sights set on bigger and better for next year ;) At least you already figured out why you blew the HG. I know its a bummer but chalk it up as a learning experience. I remember a guy in the area that had about 60 grand in his car and blew the motor on his first pass at the track because they left the line off the regulator :frown:
From day one I decided to mount my FP gauge on my hood right in front of my eyesight so that I could see any issues with FP not rising with boost. So far [knock on wood] never blown a headgasket. A ton of track passes and playing on the street, 25+ psi. We all know though that boost doesnt blow HG's, detonation does ;)
Hey, by the way, a year or so ago my brother was making a pass in his '87 T-LTD and something crazy like the FP regulator line blew clean off and his tranny blew causing his boost to sky rocket  (kind of like it was in neutral, but not  ), and he didnt blow a HG. His PAC setup (from Razor) matched the boost with methanol and all you saw was black smoke come out of his pipes. After further inspection, no engine damage whatsoever

I think if I had not hurt the motor on the first pass and could have stayed in it I would have run at least a 12.50. the car felt good through the 60ft mark but slightly afterwards poof, poof. I was running against a 2xxx Mustang Cobra with nos had 'em @ the 1/8 my 8.226 to his 8.235, blew my gasket he ended up with a 12.441. But the car pulled good at low boost. Heck if I knew I was gonna blow it up on the first pass I should have cranked the 62 up to 26 psi and let it rip. Anyway only upgrades for next year are forged pistons. Tired of popping those too.

Don't know yet still on the trailer.

What is your combo?
Still hot air - Ta62, 218-224 flat tappet, ATR passenger header, LT 3" downpipe w/ external gate, 57lb injectors, do it yourself alky, turbotweak, Pro torque 10" 3200 stall lock-up.

looks like u still picked up 20mph second half of the tack so it must of still pulled pretty good i ran about the same mph (105.9 )and with a better 60 ft (1.71) and went 12.59 with some traction u should be well into the 12's nice setup i had to use a intercooler and 20 pounds to get where u are .

Didnt take me long to learn that the 60ft is everything. Unfortuneately I never acted upon what I learned and never bought any good tires  :o If my ta33 didnt break I was planning on getting some good tires and really run some nice ET's before pulling the motor for the new setup. The majority of my passes were 1.9-2.1 60fts (major spinning) with the one time [best] 1.767 in my sig. My best 12.80 et was with a 1.82 60ft. So, definately dont follow me in regards to tires and invest in some good sticky tires early.
As you tune in more boost you'll get more topend, thats a given (its a turbo car after all :D). Put that together with a good first half of the run and you'll really be happy with your timeslips. I was making 23+ mph from 1/8 to 1/4 which compares with my brother's 11sec combo '87 so I know tires and launch (something wrong; was loading up with alky at line) could really make for a nice deep 12sec pass. Julio(Razor) told my brother that if your car is going 23-25 mph in the last half of the run your doing good. My runs were with a ta33 so with your 62 I know youve got lots more in store ;)

yeah i ran mt drag radialals, and could never get a chirp but i had a very bad external gate that was leaking very bad and on a stock converter gonna rebuild the motor have a 2800 stalll and a new wastegate gonna shoot for a 11.99 with a ta33 next year with better heads 40# inj and some more advanced tuning ? but those tires (mt drag radials) are amazing 10 # launch and u dont have to worry bout 60ft anymore.

the car felt good through the 60ft mark but slightly afterwards poof, poof.

Correction I meant just before the 1000ft mark. As far as my 60ft times I can only hold up to 5 psi at the line anymore than that and tires want break loose. So for the most part I leave at 0 psi. Next year I will try some different launching techniques.

Great # for that amount of boost. Good luck.

Hey Leeo, thanks for the cudo's, also thanks for your ported heads, your down pipe and your r&d for inspiring many of us "Hot Air" guys and girls. You of all people definately showed us that you don't have to have an intercooler to put up some good numbers.
