Hey guys/gals I'm Gary from TX. Just got an 87 GN. The car is all stock with a 2.5 in Flowmaster exhaust sys from the Down Pipe back. 155K Miles. The car does need some odd and end things, if there is anyhelp out there about finding parts. I will be looking for seat covers and badges. I'm broke now from buying the car so if there is any ideas out there about where to get these parts cheap or what not please let me know. Thanks in advance Gary

newbie

this lady will bring ya lots "o" fun and thrills, so as long as ya keep throwing money at her  but then again what fast car does'nt. Welcome to the 1st boosted church of buick :D your in FUR! a treat

Cool Nice to meet all of you.. So Im wanting my car to appear stock... But run in the 7's in the eight 11's in the 1/4.. What is an inexpensive way but safe way to do that. My car is stock. I just want it to run pretty quick. What do these things run stock? I think it is set to 9lbs of boost right now too. SO what mods do I start with?

They run low 14's, maybe high 13's if it's stock and traction permitting.

Not sure what is inexpensive to you, but a good start to 11's would be a Scan tool, Alky injection (to allow increase of boost) and a Turbo Tweak chip, then some air bags and some slicks on the rear. Not sure it would get you in the 11's but it's a good start towards it.

It's nice to see another newbee like myself, my brother was going to buy airbags for his 87 I'll ask where he is getting them from. My 86 is bone stock with 180,000 on it. I went to drive it a couple months ago and got the stiff pedal, brake light disease. 450 dollars later for a new powermaster and alot of time it's a go.

I hear yah mine pulls to the left when I brake im looking into ebay cross drilled rotors. Parts are out the ass though.

yes sir I'm just thankful that there are some places that still reproduce GN parts, especially after General Motors stopped making just about everything....so I heard:(

Welcome!

Slow down and read, read, read, this board. It is easy to get caught up in gusto of buying parts and trying to mod it up.... Stay off of EBAY for TR parts!

Go through the car as it is first. Make sure it is running in good shape before you start throwing parts at it. Search "Spring Cleaning" here and you will find just getting what you got running right first will make a big difference!

Enjoy the board!

thanks for the advice it's nice to be able to talk to TR guys that are willing to help and know how to do things the right way, I never new how special these cars were untill I went to a car show parked beside a brand new GTS viper and got more looks than that car:tongue: ....right now I have a completely bone stock 86' (180k) with t-tops and digital dash. I don't want to tear the car up but would like to make some suspension upgrades and a few engine mods nothing drastic for this one. I'd like to build a nasty regal, I have acces to a 87 gn motor and wiring harness, but the guy is not willing to budge on it.:(

Texas

Welcome to the Buick Board, also look at TurboBuicks.com, T6P.com & G-body.org (look for the Buick sites). What part of Texas you from? I and others have parts available. I have emblems, for instance, which ones you need? Read all you can. Hint: cross-drilled rotors will most likely NOT solve your brake problem.
