Guys im thinking about taking out the 12 inch conv and going back to my precision 9.5 conv . Im considering going the nonlock up route since the conv need to be rebuilt anyway and the lockup part burned up two times in the past and i never locked it up manualy at the track either . Also thinking about 3200 stall for my TA 49 Plus gives me room to go bigger turbowise . The 12s got a bit more stall but its real soft off the gas from a stand still . Any thought on this, experiance on this one please no beanch racing . Thanks :p

Why do you think that the Precision is a bad product , i dont know . I may have been doing too much driving on it . It worked great when i wasnt commuting to work as far 50 miles in N.Y traffic stop and go gets rough on parts , plus was forced to use the car in a snowstorm or two and i think that had some help in the problem . My tranny guy said he though the 9.5 was getting things too hot for the kind of use i was giving the car then .

Anyway what do you think about the original ? my tranny guy is F.B perf in bayshore , i dont know if youve heard of them but ive always had good experiances with them .

O.K i just read this thread on the Precision conv , you guys at PTS, The Precision was the Hot thing a few years back i dont know, this kind of crap pisses me off , anyway its $2something to rebuild this thing which i already have . If i go the Non lockup route would it be better or should i just forget the plan entirely . please respond back SOMEONE who knows what their talking about , hey if you guys at PTS can rebuild this thing i just assume give you the Buisness , My tranny guy sugested the Non lock up from the get go but i insisted on the L.U .

My precision multi disc has torn up 3 times now, And I wasn't locking it up at WOT. I just purchased a 9X11 from CK Performance, I have only put about 10 miles on it and I love it. No more rattle either. It stalls good and pulls like hell! If you just determined to run the Precision converter, then try getting it rebuilt by Pat's converters. They claim that they can fix what keeps breaking in it.

I wonder why everyone is having so much trouble with the precisions now..use to not have many or at least not hear of many problems..some magazine did an article on it & said the conveter was an awesome converter..it was kinda the fad thing & eveyone was doing it now the fad is bad..why is that? Will the 9x11 fad be bad also in a couple of years or after I purchase one?
Ive heard alot abot the 9x11's on here but in the v8 drag racing world around here the 9x11's are known as being cheap & not as efficent...I would think otherwise but Ive never ran one so I dont really know.

I'm thinking that the older 7 disc version was better than the newer 5 disc, also I haven't heard of any complaints from the Z28 croud.

O.K would one of the tranny gurus answer my ??????????? should i just build it into a nonlockup , buying a new conv. for $800+ is out of the question at this point . Maybe ill just use it as Garage decoration as it has been .

Galoush, I did not refer to any converter by name. As far as our response to one of their people taking smack, well I can't let such an open statement go unanswered. Sorry it upset you that I spoke my mind. As far as fixing your converter, we don't try to remedy someone elses engineering errors. We supply top rate ALL NEW converters. I personally would stick with the lock up myself. If you want, your trans guy could always set it up for you as a manual lock up. Thanks, Mark

No i hear you , just this conv got good reviews a few years back so im like W.T.F . Actualy i may just leave well enough alone and leave whats in the car not , the car not blowing the tires away may help on the street anyway , my next plan may involve some giggle juice when i need a lightning fast spool .

Well, problem is with reviewers, they can be influenced greatly. How many times have you seen a movie or a play that had great reviews and it sucked? Kind of the same thing here. Best way to judge is by those that have been using any product for a period of time. That is a true review. Mark :D

Oh i agree with that but back in the day i didnt know of boards like this if it was even around then , there isnt two many GN guys around to go by on parts .

galoush. I am going to give you my 2 cents about FB performance, Freddy is a liar and cant build the 200 for crap. I broke 3 of his trannies when my gn was a 13 sec car 4 years ago. He lied everytime and made excuses. I advice you to stay away from that guy, if you want someone local check out ck performance. He seems to know his stuff not to mention very nice c service. If you decide to stick with FB good luck. you willl need it! I PAID everytime fb worked oin the trans to fix it, it was always my fault! I know of several people that learned there lesson with him.

Alright they did tranny work for me and i was happy with it , after the tranny went ( this was after 35k and the convertor got cooked after getting caught in snow and reving the hell out it and going nowhere probibly helped ) They freshened it and i expected to have to pay for a full rebuild and they told me what it needed and charged me alot less then i expected to pay And i would have been none the wiser . They also did a rear for me which is holding up good After 50k miles +. the tranny is doing good now after the refresh , shifts hard and works great ,so my experiances have been good with them . Also the work was always done fast which is nice when you see how some places operate . And thats what im going on . Sorry to hear you had bad experiances with them

Im not against CK just dont know them , for now i think im going to leave the tranny alone , its working great so why screw with it . Im thinking of doing a powerstroke I.C with the $$$ instead and my front end does need alot of attention . I do like to hear it from other board members too , gives you an idea on whos doing what , but like everything your always gona have good and bad things said about whoever .

I agree. I am glad you are doing well with yours! I just dont like the man at all thats all,. Maybe he has gained knowledge over the yearss? who knows/, good luvck with everything!
