Standard bore for an 84 109 block

84 did not have a 109 block. I have been told hot air pistons are different than intercoled pistons due to the blocks having different deck heights.

Also turbo pistons are different than naturally aspirated pistons

The pistons should all be about .060 in the hole on anything from about 83 up from what i remember. Approx 23 cc dish also. The design changed a few times. 83-85 are heavier than 86-87 and 86 is slightly different than 87

It is a 1984 N/A block 2 dot rods ect... the last 3 numbers on the casting is 109

Looking for something NOS so it takes some guess work out of thebuild. Im not and engine builder by trade so looking for something that is bolt and go.

109 blocks are 86-87 ONLY !!! They also have a 20 bolt oil pan and front cover a 1984 block would have a 14 bolt pan and cover

He already knows that James, and it's very late 85 through the TTA's.

I have about 6 late 85 engines none were 109's they had 140 casting # but did have 20 bolt pans and timing covers. Per bison the older blocks had a different deck height therefore different pistons.

I'm not trying to sell the guy anything just trying to help him from buying the wrong parts that's all!!!!

I missed the joke ? Sorry :-( I have been sick almost the last week and in between coughs and sneezes I look and see what's going on over here. I just try to offer up what info I know to try to help others just like when I was learning people did for me

The piston compression height appears to be the same. The difference is in the head gasket thickness. .017 compressed on the tall deck blocks

Ive seen 84 and 85 g bodys at the scrap yard with 109 blocks but they also had a sticker on the valve cover that said it was a replacement from gm and to refer to 86 spec for the engine or something like that anyways i saw a set on fleabay. type turbo regal and go to engine components. If you are looking for forged the "NOS" description in your title is keeping the guys who have the forged ones away. NOS is factory GM, which were cast. I guess you want a set of TRW/Federal Mogul "Power Forged" pistons.
