Items ALWAYS pull more in original packaging. Some might want to put it on their car immediately. Others might want to sit on it and sell at a later date for a profit. It amazes me how everyone says its worth more in original packaging. Yes if you plan on throwing it on a shelf for years to sit. But if you buy this to restore your GN, it is coming out of the package anyways. All I care is that it's the same condition outside as it would've been inside. If original packaging were so important, my garage would be full of empty boxes. I just don't have the space.

3 years ago cars and parts were peaking. Not so much now but NOS stuff is different and some items continue to increase in value light bumper fillers.
But ur right, I can remember seeing only a handful in the past 5 years and some were regal only and some not.
Maybe $300 or $325 is more reasonable considering how rare it is. Like Bison said tho, if it has the original packaging it will be worth more.
Hood insulators were $47 or was it $37 when they were new? Can't remember actually. Bison knows. But now? Forget it.
SOME parts are, Not all. If the part is more or less impossible to find and makes a huge difference in how the car will look in a restoration project then they will of course pull more money. The NOS parts are peaking more now than they was 3 years ago.....I seen a guy pay over $700 for a 9 pin hood liner. If you can believe that.

Increased value in original packaging is nothing new. The fact that they are in original packaging makes them more believeable as ORIGINAL vs. a repo of some sort. It's no guarentee of course but brings more overall value when actual GM part numbers are listed.
It doesnt amaze me at all. Some people collect NOS parts. They are worth considerably more in the original packaging. Even more if the original packaging is nearly perfect.
That sounds like a boring hobby. I guess what I meant to say was that it amazes me that people are so uptight about a sealed box. Its whats inside that counts. I could care less whats on the outside. Hell, that part inside could be cracked or damaged and you wouldnt even know it. I'll take visuals any time versus a sealed box.
Agreed, if you urself was BUYING it and was not concerned about it's authenticity. But, if you were SELLING a part then it will pull more cause like Bison said some just like to collect those original parts for their collection or to sell at a later date. You're right, it is nothing new. All I'm saying is, let's say someone needed a part for their car that they intend to use right away. Someone has a NOS one that is sealed in packaging for 100 bucks more compared to one that is NOS without packaging. They would be an idiot to buy the sealed one for $100 more if they intended on using right away. This is of course, assuming that the part is legit. I would NEVER pay more for something sealed in the box, if its nothing more than the same part on the inside.
