Well make up a itinerary of where you want to go!

Check the time that it takes at each place how long to go from one place to another.

Times at pretty important when you are there.( to see the various tourist locations, all have schedules)

Make sure you schedule free time too. During the free time talk to the locals and ask them what is interesting that they know of that is not in the various info you can not get anywhere else. ( may or may not be what you like)

If you plan on going to the Statue then be there for first in the morning, people line up early for that. So be there before the line start that is a place you want to go first in the morning.

Definitely need to take in a show on Broadway, book it now. . .

Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is pretty cool , you can spend days there.

Empire State building is pretty cool too. A lot of info related to it, things people would not even have thought about. If any of you have motion sickness make sure you take gravol for them. hehe

Rockefeller Centre is cool too , you can do the guided tours there too, a lot of fun. Blow a day real fast.

You can also do a helo ride around the city too, pretty cool.

Do a carriage ride around central park with the g/f or wife. :) Late afternoon before going to dinner at the planned restaurant.

There are also bus tours that you can go on for a nominal fee. ( they take you around to the highlight as they know them, they are a haft day typically)

A week is not a very long time to see much, but there are great place there to enjoy.

You can save a money if buy your tickets now for all the place you plan to visit.

Anyway you get the idea.

Museum of natural history is a great place to see. Stay off of Amsterdam Avenue....

We went to Manhattan last August for our 18th anniversary. Not somewhere I wanted to go, but she has done some pretty lame things for me, so I went. Stayed at the Novatel which is right in the middle of Times Square. I’ll have to admit I was wrong about the city. We had a great time a very expensive great time. Never had a car, you don’t need one. I set up the transportation to and from the airport and paid for that in advance. People know you don't belong there, we found almost everyone to be very helpful.

Buy a Metro card ($25 for 7day pass) and get a map, takes about ½ day to master the public transportation system. You can go anywhere. We went from the Bronx Zoo to the Statue of Liberty and all points in-between. Here was our favorites:

1) Broadway – Wicked
2) A Cuban restaurant right around the corner for the Novatel
3) A food stand down on the bay, corner of Wall Street and ?? (It’s right by the pier, ran by two Russian guys, their mom prepares the all the food and they cook it) a cheap good lunch.
4) Ground Zero
5) Central park bike tour
6) People watch!

Least Favorite:

1) A very expensive steak place (Right next door to the Novatel)
2) Anything that has to do with shopping
3) The Subway ride to the Bronx (The customer base changes as you go north out of Manhattan, go during the day)

It’s so alive, it’s incredible. Also, it’s a two shower a day city especially if you ride the subway. It’s expensive, I could have spent a week in the Caribbean for what 5 days cost. Here was the view form the balcony at the hotel.

I have been doing alot of work in that hotel lately,I am a local 638 Fitter...we just installed 2 new cooling towers,Had to cut in a bunch of new valves on the Chillers,And we are doing a mockup to change the system over to a 4pipe system...they were going to close the hotel to do this,But have decided to stay open and do it a section at a time.

Did you hit Gallager's steakhouse right next to The Novatel? Not a bad steak.

Damon,

Give me a call when you guys get here...I will meet up with you,And after hitting you in the head with a bat...I can stay in the city after work and show you around some...:D

NYC stinks
If you smoke don't pull out a pack of cigs you will have many friends
If driving don't get lost every bridge crossed you pay.

That was the steak place that was on the least favorite. I guess being from the midwest, I expected more from a $44 steak. Four of us ate dinner for $450:eek: Now that cuban place next to that:cool: Piaya top notch.

Wooops..missed the least favorite list..lol...And yes,I have heard good things about the cuban restaurant over there.

Gallagers has dropped way off from what it once was...But then again...$44 bucks for a steak in NY is 1 step up from McDonalds..lol.

My steak was free, that may have swayed my judgment...Free food always tastes good..
