Got a can of Motor Flush laying around. Gonna change the oil soon. 100k motor. Should I use this?

I wouldn't. Drain oil till it barely drips. Then pour in a little fresh oil back in and let it drain again. This will push most of the leftover old oil out the pan. This is a better way than the regular traditional way.

what about a high detergent diesel oil for a flush. Put it in run it abouth 30 mins then drain again. would that be a safer way to flush. more cost to it. maybe add a little zddp to it for protection.
I am not against some flushes for the average cars that get neglected, but really never seen great results from any of them either. just my opinion.

you stand a real good chance of plugging up the turbo oil orifice! by using the flush.
and it will dislodge any and all junk / crude that may be in there,
I wouldn't do it!

Lots of oil leaks will be likely afterwards, original rope rear and front main seals? They'll probably start to hemorage oil. Original cam? It may go to. Buick motors are very touchey when treated with love, I would not.:)

Sludge should be a thing of the past. It was mainly caused by leaded gas. If you use avgas or racing fuel there might be some there. I have over 200K on mine and no sludge.

I would never ever use a flush because it will break stuff loose and get in oil pickup tube and turbo line and cause a engine failure , your best best is let it naturally flush with oil changes and hope for the best .New oil and filter is your best bet . Be patient it will clean up with time .

IF you have sludge and IF it hasn't taken out your engine..... leave it alone.

Motor flush all it is
Is kerosene. As long as u done rev the motor. While using it
u will be fine. Add to while its hot. Op temp .. run for 10 min.
Let it drain over night.
Really helps on a high mileage motor. On those cars that people Only changed it once a yr
Ive bought a ton of those

I used the stuff on an engine that had lots of sludge 40 years ago. It broke down the sludge and jammed my oil pump and broke it. I was lucky it didn't take out the engine.

Exactly
Petroleum distillates is all it is - like 80% of the other stuff on the shelf at Advanced AutoZone

Ok,so say you've dislodged some sludge,if you have it. Where does it go??

Right into your oil pump pickup screen.

Now you have a problem:

I need to do this asap. not to hack the thread, but which oil should you use? I ordered the oil additive from kirban. I have 5 quarts of quaker state what ever weight the motor states. and I also have mobil one. but was told I don't need mobil 1 if I use the reg oil with the additive.
any info would help..

You'll probably get a better response if you start your own post. Otherwise people see the original Subject line. Someone who really knows the answer to your Q will never see your Q here.

That way we won't have two Subjects going on in one post, either. ...just sayin'.
