From my Orig. Post -
"I had lost about a pint and a half of coolant in 500mi. and I had
assumed it MUST be the head gasket as When I bought this 62,000orig mi. car off the second owner, he had some overboosting problems WITHOUT a scan tool and WITH the original fuel pump!! (I read his posts here).
I had the oil analyzed by Oil Analyzers Inc., and they DID pick-up traces of Coolant in the oil, although the oil LOOKED perfect on the dipstick!!"

To make a long story short, the Original Stock Gaskets were PERFECT!!! Ugh!!
The only thing I can think of now is that when that second owner did the Water Pump he didn't use thread sealer on the longer bolts that go into the timing cover, perhaps that's how the TRACES of coolant got in the Oil! Any Ideas????

Yeah, lose the anti-freeze if you're running it and switch to distilled water/RMI (if you haven't done so already) while you're diagnosing your problem, your bearings will thank you...

:)

Yea, Almost done putting it back together!! RMI is on the list!!
At least I had a chance to check everything out and do a good clean-up While I was in there!!

Not to change the specific question but you mention about using distilled water with RMI, is it a must when using RMI to use distilled water or can I get away with using plain ol tap water?

Actually Nick, I KNOW I should have, but did Not!! I'm hoping its the Water Pump bolt/bolts with no sealant on then or maybe something else minor, as the review from Oil Anylizers showed on a scale from 1-100 only a very minor, less than 2 on the scale traces of glycol, thats only a few drops!! Who knows????

sure a lot of us that have been using snake oil for a long time, then. :)

It works as advertised. I just got some more from Nck the other day.

You can get distilled water at the grocercy store.

It is not a question of where to get the distilled water, it was what if I already used tap water, will it be a problem.
I get all my distilled water from my dehumidifyer.

I was asking, not claiming. Sounds very good but I wanted some testimonials.

Is it available locally?

I think it is carried by some heavy truck places. I order mine from Nick as I noted above. He was the one trying to find out how to keep turbos cool in the summer down in Arizona that brought it to our attention a number of years ago.

It works as advertised. That is two testimonials from me. If you do a search here, you will find it discussed often.

I have used it with tap water....no problems but I normally use distilled water in the fall when I switch to some antifreeze +rmi25 and then straight water and rmi-25 this time of year.

No deposits will form when you use it. Keeps the block, heads, and radiator free of layered buildups.

25$/quart which includes shipping from Nick Micale whose email is available from his post above. That is enuf for four cars.

I also use it in my SMC alky set ups along with denatured and distilled water for lubrication purposes. Obviously, it is water soluble.

Sounds like it's worth a try. I have a 3800SC I dropped into my 86 Ciera GT and here in California on 110 degree days under boost and pulling ahill, it will climb to 230F. It never complains but I'd like to see if this will drop it the 220F or lower range. I'm running an AL radiator. Before that, the copper radiator let it get to 250. Again, it never complained but I was getting worried.

If it works, I'll drop it into the TT. That thing seems to dump the heat better than the Ciera SC does.

Thanks!

"Water Pump bolt/bolts with no sealant on then" my original question, will/can this cause small amount of coolant to seep into the oil??????

don't think so..will cause an external leak.

Most likely place is the water ports between the heads and the intake. That is the reason most of us lay a bead around the ports of silicone.

Steve,

This is an ORIGINAL, never been apart car! And when I removed the Intake, the seal "looked" perfect! As did, of course, the headgaskets! Well, lets see, a pint in 500mi, and there were traces of Water in the oil, hmmm..... Headgaskets & Intake were perfect, how else could the water have gotten in there, can't be a cracked block or head, or could it??? Geeezz!! Just my frickin luck!!

Oh yea, one other thing, before I took it apart, I did a compression test and I got 150-160 in each cylinder! But I still figured I could have had a weep trail into the coolant hole, but unfortuanitly not

and you are sure the heater core is not suffering from a hair line crack?

At this point, the faint trace of antifreeze in the oil probably does not equate to a pint of coolant in 500 miles....

Maybe you should try to think a bit more positively about the car rather than projecting the worse. It will make ownership more enjoyable. :)

Yea, thats true! But I AM my own worst enemy!! :)
