Need some ideas please. Motor is being built by TA Performance under Nick Micale's wings. Here is some info...3.970 bore 4.1 stage II, 3.625 crank, 6.3 rods, CP pistons, ported GN1s, stock ported intake, 95lb injectors, 3200 stall lock-up

This is a street car, I would like to keep the convertor stall where it's at. I also would like to keep a hydraulic roller cam in it. It will be set up with 1.55 roller rockers. Is it worth to go to a billet roller? What turbo would you recommend? Thanks!

I'm surprised you bothered to ask us if Nicks involved, but ok we like to spend other members money. ;)

I'd say around a 212/218 would be a good compromise of street and strip and get you the top end flow with those ported GN-1s since lift will be a little over a .500 and you're most likely a 5800-6200rpm engine.

Billet cam is always in the wallet of the beholder, if you can afford it, it's worth getting.

Are you going to stay with the 3 bolt turbo? Might be the time to jump ship to the 4 bolt and really open that 4.1 up with an exhaust housing that flows.

I'm just looking for a few opinions on turbo and cam please. I'd like to hear what other people have learned. For now I think I'll stick with the 3-bolt turbo because I have 3 bolt ATRs. Is it efficient to get the adapter plate to go 4-bolt or would I need 4-bolt headers? I probably wouldn't ever see over 600hp. I want to run pump gas/alky.

There is no need to go larger than a 6265 here. 6262 would get I done too. Kind of an overkill engine for only 600hp. Id pick some lobes that will net around .540 lift and duration no more than 212@.050 with a 3200 converter.

X2 with the above, I'd go 62/65 with the 212/218 and have some fun.

Going true 4 bolt makes reaching power #'s easier. But your goals are obtainable without it if you're on a budget.

Well I bought the motor as a virgin for a $1000 and thought it was a good deal and I didn't have to mess with a girdle again. Is 600hp at the wheels doable with 93 and alky? I would like a turbo that I could grow in a little. Thanks for the advice!

Oh yes 600 with pump gas and alky very obtainable.

When you say a turbo to grow into what do you want to grow into?? You said 600hp, is that not your ultimate goal?? Because with the motor you described you have lots of directions you could go.

Primarily a street car but I do want to run it down the track with a little more boost occasionally. Isn't like 650 hp like a 9 sec ride with a good 60ft?

I'm looking at your sig and it looks like you already have a cam and turbo to get you where you want to be, or at least very close.

Yeah 650 should be 9's or close I imagine, my car put down around 570 on one dyno and 588 on another and it has run 10.48 with an ok 60', so I'd guess 650 would be 9's with a good 60' or very close.

I'm running a 76 GTS 4 bolt and 236 cam on pump gas and alcohol. To me, it is very streetable but I don't consider it a daily driver either. I'm with Collin though, if you goal is 600 hp you could go with the 67 you already have.

I like the 67 that I have but was thinking I could get away with a lil bit bigger turbo having the extra cubes and the availability of the new billet wheel, ball bearing versions. I like the idea of keeping the cam on the smaller side like between a 212 to a 220. Appreciate the info guys.

You definitely could go with many different turbos, but if your goals are what you say I just think it's a waste of money, which I hate to see...Now if you are looking for more that changes things.

Maybe the best thing for you to do is put it in with what you already own and tune it to it's potential...Then decide if you want more.

Yep, that's sounds like an idea. I've been following the thread of the car Cal just tuned, very impressive. On 91 and duel alky, wow. That's pretty awesome. Even if the numbers are off 100 hp it's still good. That car would probably hit 800hp on E85. Thanks for giving me some ideas!

I'll be running a Powerstroke intercooler. Anyone still running one? Looks like it would be big enough to cool but not big enough to hinder spool-up for the street. I know there are 30 page threads on this but just asking to this general audience. I have a Terry Houston 3.5 inch, will this clear the ATR headers? Thanks!
