My 84 Regal Limited has been in storage for the pass 5 years.
It has 147k miles on it, would rebuilding an engine with that many miles be smart? (for number matching reasons)
Or should I buy a remanufactured, I have a company in mind to buy it from.

any thoughts? comments? advice?

The reason it was put into storage is cause it wouldn't pass SMOG here in California.
I really want to get this car back out on the road, it doesn't deserve to live its life in a storage unit!

Would that company who rebuilds it give any sort a warranty? I know Autozone sells the 3.8 turbo reman motors, with 109 block, 8445 heads and a turbo crank for $1600 and gives a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.

Having one rebuilt could cost more than than the above reman motor. If you not racing it and just want a dependable engine, I would go reman...Just my 2 cents though.

Its NA...

I would go with a shop that builds your motor so you know what you have.

It shouldn't be a big deal and you can still do all the cover and pump mods.

My biggest question is why it wouldn't pass. It really may be as simple as a few of the smog controls are messed up. Do you have the sheet showing why it didn't pass?
