Our GN's now have competition

Buick is boasting its new car for 08. In thier ad it says it will be faster then the GN. I scaned this from this months car and driver. What is your opinion on this?

V6? Get them windows tinted and it will look great, for a FWD family car. I still like it though.

I believe they can come with a 5.3 Litre 300HP. 86GNGirl would you say this car is just as fast or faster than a stock Gn..

Yes it is a V6 3.8. I would love to get the windows tinted, but the law around here will only let me tint the rear windows. I'm not to thrilled with the FWD either, but it really doesnt have that FWD torque pull to it. Goes great in the snow, comfy to drive and its an American car.

Just click on Lacrosse Super for more details. Says it comes with the 5.3L V8 making 300 hp and 323 ft lbs of tq at 4000rpm. Not too shabby, and I'd be willing to bet it would absolutely scream with some drag radials and a 125 shooter. Sounds like a recipe for a GTO killer for sure.
Just wait guys, we will eventually get a RWD Buick again, it's on it's way.

FWD and its really not that hard to make a car run in the high 13's these days. Lets see how much it costs to knock a second off those times. Make a Buick that is faster than a Vette again and i will buy it.

It isn't going to run with a stock GN with the 5.3 in it. The 5.3 GXP's aren't any faster than the old 3800SC GTP's. A friend of mine and myself each bought GTP's afew years ago. His went 14.29@95 and mine ran 14.21@96 totally stock. With under $100 in mods we were running mid 13's @101, but traction was very limited with stock Goodyears. Try that with the 5.3. They should make it rear drive and put a reworked Escalade 6.2 in it.

From what I have seen with the GXP's, I'm guessing it will run mid 14's@98 mph.

Stock, it will beat a Stock WRX from a roll, so it's kind of a sleeper.

To be "Faster than a GN" it only has to run 125 mph Top Speed and it isn't false advertising.
