Hey Patrick, or anyone that knows. Can a 70HPQ turbo be converted to a 71 billet wheel? Seems you would just need to change the compressor wheel & housing or machine it a little? What would be the cost? Also are we just looking at the capability of 30hp more as the chart would indicate?

Thanks

give him time he will get back to you. i pm him back and forth and sometimes it takes days but he will get back to you.

john a buddy of mine was also looking to up grade his 67 hpq to a billet wheel. he called pte est cost around $600.00 to convert.71 bigger wheel may be be a little more call them they will hook you up.

I have an new, unused dbb 6776 that I would like to convert as well. If you answer this, please PM me on the procedure to get it done.

Thanks

Yes, they are correct, it is best to give us a call with turbo questions like this. It's getting pretty busy in here this time of year. :D

The 70 HPQ turbo, can be upgraded to a Billet 71 HPQ. The differences in power will become evident once you crank the boost past 25psi. The 70 HPQ turbo is rated to support 850 flywheel hp when maxed out. The Billet 71 HPQ turbo is rated to support 945 flywheel hp when maxed.

As far as upgrade costs are concerned, the turbo has to be sent into our repair department first, in order to get an estimate for upgrade.
With this upgrade, the complete compressor side is changed. (Comp cover, comp wheel, and backing plate) Once the turbo is torn down and evaluated, Wes will call you back with the Upgrade estimate. This is our normal procedure on all Upgrade and repair turbos.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Patrick! But now I'm more confused, you say 850hp to 945hp? when the list you posted in the sticky here says 945hp to 975hp. How do you guys come up with horsepower figures?

PS the only time my 70 see's under 25psi is at idle.
