I have gotten several emails from "PayPal". This is a scam to get your password and log on info. Here is the first line of the email....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear valued member,
This email confirms that you have paid lcdmonitorsppdsales@yahoo.com $283.99 USD using PayPal.
This credit card transaction will appear on your bill as "PAYPAL *LCD03PPD4".
ALWAYS LOOK IN YOUR BROWSER INSTEAD OF YOUR EMAIL BROWSER FOR THESE PHISHING WEBSITES ITS SUPPOSE TO SAY paypal.com/sign.us or something like that . i get these fakers everyother day i just delete them and pay them no attention. ive had paypal for 3yrs now & had never had them to email me about anything except receipt of payment. when i go to paypal i always click on my ebay account and find the paypal link and go through that way... once im on that way --i have it clicked on as a my favorite. just in case i dont want to go through ebay.. but i do go thru ebay to be safe.
also if pay pal gives you a email they will use your PERSONAL NAME.
not valued customer, pay pal user , or even once that had me confused had my personal email address name. (liked to have got me)
also if you do click on the browser thats when you look at the very top for top in the browser for the pay pal.com like in the top of this browser you see http://www.turbobuick.com etc. etc. thats the way PP is suppose to look.
now the one that had my email address name did have me fool because get this it did have paypal.com in the browser. and it said i had 3 days or a specific date to respond or my acct would be closed. so thats when i went through ebay linked to pappal i had no messages & thats how i know it was fake. a good thing to do is when you get on the legit paypal site write down everything in the browser and leave it by the your computer so when you look it & it doesnt say the same thing then move on.
main thing PP will use your whole name when they get in touch with you just like when they leave you a receipt of payment through pay pal.
you can also go on their spam & security site for more info. hope this help.:smile:
I've been using Paypal about the same time or longer as well. The only emails I get are receipes. I get tons of fake paypals all the time asking me to verify my account info or saying someone has hacked my account and I need to verify info or they'll close it down. The first time I got an email like that I ignored it like the lazy person I am lol Then I started getting them like crazy. So I logged on to my account via doing a search and NOT the link that was giving in the email. My account history looked fine. So I emailed them ( again not using the link sent to me in the email) asking them what was the deal. Paypal returned saying the email was a fake trying to rip me off. They futher said they would never ask you in an email about your account info which mkes sense. They gave me some Paypal fraud link to forward those emails to...It's something like Spoof.com but can't remember. I've have sent about 50 emails to them and NOT one has ever come back saying it was legit!
Emails that are actually from Payapl will begin with your real name. Dear John Smith.
They NEVER start with Dear Paypal Member, or Dear Paypal Account holder.
It's spoof@paypal.com. Ebay also has the same set up; spoof@ebay.com. I always forward phishing messages to these respective addresses as I can't stand thieves & scammers.
I have sent many fake emails and second chance offers to that email address as well. they do respond and let you know that they are not from ebay.:cool:
if it's not in your messages at ebay it is fake.
check out this scam
i buy and sell snowmobile stuff this time of the year. at the place where i post stuff for sale someone will email me that they want to buy my stuff, without asking what condition or try to bargain on the price. they state they will send a bank money order for more than i am asking, then imediatly want me to cash it and send them the remainder of the money. its usually about 500$ more than i am asking. only catch is the money order is a counterfit. what a scam....i would like to see these people die
I forwarded my message directly to paypal and they send me back a message that it was fraud and they would be going to look in where it came from.
