I just rebuilt my 85,, The block is .060 over w/ hyperuetetic pistons, I have full ported heads w/ bigger valves and hd springs. I have a comp. 206q cam #37lb injectors, walboro 307 pump hotwired, presure reg. and a precision ta48 turbo , 3000-3200 stall converter, h/o coilpack adjustable waste gate...... what kind of performance should I expect, what boost leval should i run on what octane (usually 93) any additional parts should i add.

first-what gauges do you have and what scan tool are you using?

you have the parts to run fast or blow your pistons into bits,it's your choice:D.

later,sean

I have a boost gauge, air fuel gauge, oil pressure, temp. I do not currently have a knock gauge,, ( will be gettin it soon though) I was just lookin for some tunin advice and poss. performance one i have the gauge

sounds like a good start.i'd have your fuel/air gauge modified by these guys:

http://gadgetseller.com/gauges/home.htm

so it actually works at wot, where you need it.

i'd say with sticky tires and good gas and tune you have at least a low 13 high 12 combo.is your intake matched to the heads?

you should also get a proper scan tool(t-link).

who's chip are you running?

later,sean

Maybe some drag shocks and airbags would help that 60' if you dont have them now.

how about a nice power stroke intercooler, mine made a nice power gain when i hooked it up from no intercooler at all.:D

.060 is all i had a choice of, The block was already bored to that when i got the car, and it was pretty trashed. Luckily the machine shop was able to fix everything. I do plan to convert to an 86/87 motor,, but at 19 years old and a college student money isnt fallin out of the sky. I was hopin to do alot better than low 13's. Before majority of the mods (mostly internal, and new turbo) I had very little trouble w/ ls1 cars, So what is keepin me back in my combo. When purchasing the parts for the rebuild the vendors i delt w/ said i should have no problem w/ mid to low 12's,, and w/ more tunin and traction,, and 3in dp. they said i may even brake into the high 11's. Why such a big difference. As far as coolin goes it runs fairly cool suprisingly,, thanx to a beefy radiator and additional coolin fans.

thanks i was looking for this webpage for the longest time.. i want one of those blue led digital o2 sensors..

In regards to your mods, (if you don't blow a hole in a cylinder :) ) I had the same cam, home ported heads, TA49, 2,800stall, 2.5"DP, ported intake with the only big difference being a small Spearco FM intercooler. I had no problem with two local Viper GTS's, a 550 Maranello, a blown Foxbody, and a heads/cam LS1. Boost was ~24psi with 110 octane and moderate timing. The only car that was close was the Vipers and I pulled until the top of third, but it was obvious if we went much longer I would've gotten passed.

Cliff notes: You should be able to see high 11s on a perfect 40 degree day with slicks and racegas and a nice tailwind.

PS. For someone on a budget you can't beat the Ford FM intercooler and the gains are unbelievable.

well, street romping is a little different than a full 1/4 mile drag race...i have a feeling things would have been a little different at the strip against a properly driven ls1:).

what vendor did you use and how many 11 second hotairs have they built?hell, how many 11 second hotairs are there?going that fast is easier said than done.we've had plenty of folks on this board over the years popping off about the 11's they were gonna go blast out, only to run mid-13's at the track:rolleyes: .

the good thing is,you've got some quality parts.once again,is your intake ported to your heads(this is important)and who's chips are you running?

i think all alot of hotairs need is a NON stock turbo and some boost!!! get propane, race gas, or alky and turn that sh!t up!!

i hope he can pull more than high 12s out of that..

i did that 13.6 on street tires on a 0 vac launch, only 17psi or so with a little 101 mixed in for safety... with slicks and more boost that wouldve been an easy low 13

Thank u guys again. I much appriciate all of the replies, seein how in my area out of the people I know I am the on guy w/ a gn or turbo regal. My intake is not matched to my heads yet. Im tryin to find a new intake mostley because I overtorqued the coolant temp sensor. ( now I have a slight coolant leak due to the small CRACK in my intake thanx to stupidity. when i get the new intake I do have plans to port it to match my heads. I was curious what it would take to fit that intercooler onto my car. How much work is it. and also I read somewhere that and intercooler on hot airs causes a great amount of turbo lag. thanx again guys, Ill try to use all suggestions to best of my means

Even with the huge intercooler and 3" piping there is absolutely no additional lag whatsoever over no intercooler.

btw,you can get a used stock intake from mike mccoy for less than $100...

the stock intake ports suck ass to say the least.they need to be ported to the gasket.there is also room to improve at the inlet.i'll be doing both soon as well as installing ported heads and 208 cam.

do you still have the stock downpipe?

thanx man, I hope that the combo works well. I dont expect to get where i want to be right away, and i know ive still got alot of things ahead,, hopefully a 3" downpipe as well. I do baby my baby though, It may not even see the track but once,, I built it for fun, and hopefully not to break. My rear tires usually last as long as my fronts, but every now and then I like to have my fun too. In my area alot of kids my age have parents that spoil them to much (ex. New t/a, z28, ss, mustang cobra, etc.) they dont even work for a fast car. they just have mom and dad buy it that way. I like to be a little different. I plan to look into the intercooler setup, and see from there, Ill continue to update how it all comes. thanx for the advice and sugg.

I was just trying to be encouraging. It can be done with a lot of patients. And hard work and scan tool scan tool scan tool...
