Heres some pics of the new ride, a little more surface rust underneath than I had anticipaed, along with Paint fade
on the top surfaces, issues:

1 DEAD AC Compressor
2 Needs new Accumulator <--was informed
3 Paint Fade
4 Dead Power antena <--died on the way home

As far as the AC Bryan told me, "Well I never checked it" Oh well....I can't complain too much, as it IS the real deal, rear brake drums have NEVER been off, still has the factory clips & tags, I replaced the Original air & fuel filters, and dumped a TON of silcon rubber conditioner on the slightly dry rotted tires.
Heres some PIcs:

Even with the minor defects that car is AWESOME. Bryan sent me pictures of it last year when I was in the market for a Turbo Regal.
Congrats and treat her right. I love that color too. What did you end up paying for her?

Brian,

Looks good...As for the Paint Fade. A 'Local' (*COUGH* Bob Sherwood *COUGH*) has a 12,000 or 13,000 mile car like yours, and he has some of the same 'Paint Fade' as yours does. Most TurboBuicks that you see with original paint tend to check. So take care of your paint, and keep it out of the sun!

In the future the quality of paint (or lack of) and paint fade will be selling points with the cars. There is a quite bit of surface rust on yours, but thats nothing that some good detail work can clean up!

The car looks great, and im sure that once you clean it up it will look fantastic.

Planning to keep it stock?

It is hard to tell from the Pictures, but I can only imagine how nice the Chrome looks on this car!

I notice that the exhaust tips are painted black and assume this is original. Did all TRs come with black tips? I have never recieved a clear answer about this.

Guys,

Thanks for the compliments, and YES, I'm going to keep it as
BONE stock as possible. I'm going to a good body guy up here to see about the paint, as I'd like to just strip and do the top surfaces as the sides look tremendous. And yes I'm going to start on the surface rust this weekend.

GN1220, I've seen several very low mile T's with factory black tips, it seems as though this is correct.

The silver/light grey color from GM had a load of clear in it and that evaporates allowing the finish to tarnish. You may be able to polish and clear coat the original paint. Good luck. Just a polish won't last because once the small silver bits in the paint get exposed, they will just tarnish again.

The rust under the car is on all the non-plated parts and you can easily attack that without much work.

I used to live just south of Brian in Prince George County, VA. I picked up my CLI products at the local Virginia Agra Supply store. The DeRuster ""WILL"" turn back rust. I put just a little in a Dixie cup, (more southern reference there), and dab it on with a cotton swab. On light rust you can just about watch it fade. On heavier rust you will need more applications, but the rust goes away. Once treated the rust is inhibited from coming back.

This stuff will pull rust stains out of white paint and not harm the finish. A good thing on a 79 white whale LeSabre that lived its life outdoors.

CLI also makes a purple degreaser that is great. The grease just melts off. It leaves behind the paint markings, but will haze aluminum.

David,

I can't thank you enough for chiming in as I was pulling my hair out trying to remember what that Rust product was, I remember
it being talked about a few years ago here but couldn't place it!

Thanks!

On another note, after literally using 2 spray cans of Silicon Rubber treatment on the tires, it's almost miracoulus as they
once again look (& feel) like new, I "may" just keep them on there!

Sweet car, Brian!

The full chrome Limiteds have always been a favorite of mine.
The cornering lights are cool too.

When I bought my 16K GN I had MANY conversations with the owner trying to find out as much about the car. When I was standing in front of him about to pay him that was my last chance to change my mind. If after I got home a found something that I didn't see that was not the previous owners fault but mine. Keeping in mind that it is 17 year old used car. Be careful of those tires. The DOT recommends usable tire life not the extend past 10 years. Actually, they are talking about making any tire over 10 years old illegal but that a story for another time. Good luck as it sounds like a nice car and I haven't seen too many low mile Limiteds. Drew:)

looks nice Brian! Can't wait to see it in person hopefully this summer! Looks like your old car huh?? (color wise)

Welcome to the club! I wan't looking for a Limted and when I saw mine, I couldn't pass it up. Don't know what you paid, but I think I got a great deal on mine with the stuff I got with it and it only have 6k miles also. I bought it with the intention of mod'in it though..nothin like mod'in a virgin car!!! :) Its got the orig rims back on it and will be drivin it soon. Too bad about the paint tho :(

Thanks Joe, Frank and everyone else, yea, after having it, and putting about 350mi on it, other than the paint fade on the top it's flawless, no dings, nicks, NOTHING, Just super straight!

I of course replaced the filters, PM Accumulator, and all the fluids,
and with a full tank of 94 and the stock14-15lbs of boost I get less than 1 degree of retard, it cycles at 180-200 (Stock chip & Thermo) Trans shifts Flawlessly, and its a rock solid 650rpm idle, still has the original plugs, wires, etc., Plenty of meat sill on the Original brake pads, and it's Super tight & straight on the highway. Oh, and the best part is just listening to the Super quite motor, No nonsense with ticks, rattles, pings, knocks or Anything, just a super sounding motor. I feel like I'm caught in a Time warp :)! It's just great!!

My 900 mile TTA's undercarriage looks similar. I think its just a product of sitting out East next to the ocean. Easy enough to sort out as mentioned.

Beautiful car BTW. Enjoy. :)
