very very cool. thanks for posting!
just my personel opinion, but i would have pulled off that gn emblem they put on the panel, i think it looks silly there.

DJ, thanks for taking the time to share those pics with us.

Cool that the car is in La. There aren't many TR's in La.

NICE!! Thanks for posting! Pretty cool seeing all the signs and other 'stuff' the line workers made for the car. Don't forget, after this car was built they were out of a job!! I remember reading an article about this car being built that day and all of the workers following the car down the line as after it went through there 'section', it was all over.......:frown:

Thanks. I did not realize it was the last car out of that plant. Neat that they went out with a bang by producing a GN and not a N/A base Regal.

They built the last Tahoe at the Janesville WI (still in production in Texas) plant last month and more than likely, the last truck or car built in Janesville ever. They made a big deal out of it and rightfully so since it was GM's oldest operating plant. Local UAW bought the fully loaded black Tahoe and donated it to local charity for a raffle.

Thats awesome. To me, its one thing to see a plastic wrapped GNX or GN and a totally different thing to see the LAST GN produced. To me, these pictures are cooler than when I actually touched GNX 001.

Glad to share. I'm glad everyone likes the pics.

The car is really cool to just sit and look at. And the owner is a really cool, very knowledgable guy. Back in the day he had a white Turbo T that was his race car. Also, he would get as many GNs as he could in his dealership, He would even transfer all of them in he could from other dealers. He sold and installed tons of mods when other dealers wouldn't touch them because of warranty BS. He even warrantied mildly modded cars, especially if the installs were done in his service dept.

Getting this car wasn't easy for him. He pestered people from his local Buick rep all the way to the top of the heap. Finally, he was given the green light to get "the last GN available to the public". The actual "last built" car was supposed to go to an employee who won an in-house raffle at the plant. But at the last minute, the plant manager, who controlled what car was to be built last, made sure Bob's car was, in fact, the last one built.

As the car went down the line, in different stages, you would hear applause one minute, followed by tears and crying the next. It was an extremely emotional day and at the end of the day, this car represents much of the history that place made.

I am going to stay in contact with the owner. Hopefully one of these days I can catch the car when it's out of it's bedroom and get some good pics of it on some pavement.

Thanks again to all for the positive thread reponse!

That gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling looking at those pics.

I wonder what kind of money it would pull at Barrett Jackson if advertised correctly. I would say probably $125k or so.

Thanks for posting those pics. I read the story in one of the TR books you can get from Kirbans. I remember reading they let the owner's son (who was 4 at the time) lower the engine down into the car from an electric hoist.

I wonder if the car still has the "new car smell" still in it?

Is this car still in Springhill? I would love to see it in person too..

BTW, what's up with the GN emblem on the top of the front right panel?

Read the sign in the first picture. It says why it is there.

It is indeed. Call the dealership (Springhill Motors) and ask to speak to Bob. He's a cool cat and I'm sure he would gladly take you to his house and show you the car.

Wow that is awesome.

I just went out and checked my car, the VIN ends in 464807. So that means there is a 481 unit difference between my car and the one pictured here.

Does that mean mine was the 481 last of the GN's, or the G bodies?
