Ok. I know there are some stories to tell. Let's hear them. What happened?

One of our club cars made it into the semi-finals. It was John's orange big block Mustang. I had loads of fun over the weekend. It was good talking to the Buick group representing. Good show guys. I was sure hoping Dick could have taken it. He had it dialed in right.

It was a great weekend! I barely recognized you without your Buick!
Dick sure was dialed in. That car is just plain bad-ass.
One of the things I'm still amazed by is Ron's H.'s car from Texas. He towed the car here, got a base tune on it and three passes later ran 9.2's off the footbrake!

Here are some pics of the club cars. Forgive my amateur photography.
Jim, John and Duncan's cars.

At the end of the event, a bunch of spectators gathered around John's car and applauded him. It was pretty neat. The rest of us in the club are not looking forward to the big head we're going to have to put up with for years to come. You have to know John. Love ya John.

I'll post the story of our caravan to the event later. It took us ten hours to make the 5 hour trip to the track. John almost lost his car and trailer on the freeway.

Let me make it clear right now to those that were there. I did not build the transmission in Jim's Cobra Mustang. :p Jim asks too much from a C4.

I did do the C6 in John's Mustang though.

The smoke coming from John's car at the top end turned out to be the slicks rubbing on the fender lips from tire growth. We were all worried that the engine was going away until we finally figured it out. He normally does the 1/8 mile so he has never had the MPH to see the tire growth problem.

Is that the same cobra I see just about every week at Irwindale? If so, how'd he do in the 1/4? If I remember right I think it runs 5's in the 1/8th, no?

-scott wile

I know he does go to Irwindale. Don't know how often. He has been in the high 5s in the 8th. More often it's in the low 6s. At the Pinks event, he was having problems. High 9s if I remember right.

With the problem I had with the shifter, he and I would have been competitive at high 9's!

I spent most of the time in the grandstands. The Buicks sure got some attention when they came to the line. The announcer made it a point to call out that there were 4 Buick Grand Nationals at the track competing for the top 16 spots. At one point he called out as one of the Buicks pulled to the line, 'and here comes one of the elite turbocharged Buicks.' There was a transplant job there too with a N/A Buick in it. Triumph or something that the announcer made it a point to call out that it had a Buick V6 in it. There were some long slow spots throughout the day, but the final 16 cars picked did not disappoint. It was a great show. I heard that the episode won't air until March. I was really excited for the Buick guys there. When you guys pulled to the line and started spooling those babies up it commanded attention as the heads turned and the stands grew silent waiting for the explosion of raw yanking power.

Wow

"RAW YANKING POWER"???

OHHHHH, makes me tingle!!
sorry I didn't go. thanks for the updates ,

but ......... raw, yanking power? in a Buick?

Ok,ok

I went and saw Donnie, and had him explain "RAW YANKING POWER"
so Len, I guess I understand, does my buick have raw yanking power? I dunno, but it thrills me! and the trans works fine !! did a couple blasts around the corner from my house, WAHOOOOO!!!!!
now to see if I can find some "raw yanking power"

It was a little more than a base tune to be honest, I basically had to build a new program for the car thursday night after work, because the one he had been running was way off. Got it close in the parking lot across from Nicks house, after a few blasts. Couple of tweeks at the track and it is hauling the mail.

Zimmerman and ArizonaGN build one heck of a engine and it is always a joy to put a good tune on one.

That Ron Gober is one heck of a racer too. Cutting some mean lights off the footbrake, sorry he didn't make the cut for the Pinks show.

hey hey i remember that blue and white mustang!

RICK didn't u race that guy @ irwindale get a win for the buicks win:eek: if i remember right it should be on the video i gave you.

sick pictures though, thanks for posting!!

I just wanted to say Thanks to Nick and Jan for all that they did for the car.
It was a pleasure being around you guys this last weekend. Nick and Mike did a good job building the motor and Jan put a good tune on the car. We had lots of fun. Hope to see all of you again.:)
