Man, this is an old thread.....but i was needing some basic 101 engine building info. I have my heads off and am alittle nervous at how i can rock my pistons, just like guy who started this thread. I can get a .035 feeler gauge to go between pist and wall..of course , this is at top. I run CP's. It doesnt matter what i told machine shop, they dont care (even tho they build racing motors), but i did give them the CP specs for bore/hone. Anyway, is piston bore clearance a simple measurement of one side of pist as measured against bore (like i did with a feeler gauge)? And, yes , im just measuring the top...not the crucial skirt area where its tightest/spec. Or is that amount divided by 2? IIRC its not .And do you guys like that .035 as a top spec?
