Elky, you may be talking about the new crt technology. I haven't seen those yet. Have you seen a SRXD Sony. Oh by the way DLP dosen't compare. I too was considering the 61" Toshiba DLP (which was $2800) but opted for the better TV.
if your reply is about the panasonic [tau], yes I believe it is crt. The high definition foot ball game looked like a video game! after I installed the old mans new hd cable box, we were both glued to it for about 10 minutes until he realized, I was the cable guy and kicked me out :D

The Panasonic Onyx series and Pioneer Elite are probably the best plasmas out there right now, but lots of $$. Space is a consideration for me and I need it to hang on the wall so DLP and projection is out of the question.

My brother has a 60" Pioneer Elite and I haven't seen any LCD or other brand TV (plasma or otherwise) as good as his.

So bottom line LCD or plasma...plasma all the way for me if picture quality is your priority.
I love my panasonic, but the pioneer elite it very nice, just about 2k more though. for the 2k difference, I stuck with my first choice. but yes, they are both among the top. but another thing is, some people buy expensive hd tv's, but watch the most basic stuff on them, regular cable channeld, dvd's? if you pay over 3k for a tv, and dont have high definition services, its like buying a grand national and going 40 mph on the freeway ;) and most dvd players are only component 480p, so your not even watching dvd's to the tv's fullest capabilities that you paid good money for.

you have all gone mad. The only DLP worth while is the Sony. I always see people with these big ole 61" or 62" dlp's even my mother in law, and they sit 10' away  not to mention they are heavy, and super bulky. You need a stand for them, or they are so big they stand alone  the lamps go out if you accidently leave them on for a few nights in a row, lcd is a wanna be plasma, look at your computer screen, it is plasma! how does it look? I bet you all look at pictures of your gn's or porn, and see all the beautiful colors. Plasma all the way!!!!! :D

nope my monitor has a glass tube with 128 lines of resolution on a VGA signal.

i work for a arcade games operator here in NC we have some older games that still have the orginal monitor in them and the picture looks great. we still have some MS pac's and galaga's that still have the same monitor from the factory. there 20 yrs old and have been running non stop.

just can't beat a glass tube tv.
