I would like to know where to spend most of my time(ie intake exhaust ports, short radius, roof, combustion chambers, pockets) any help is greatly appreciated.iam using 1.77 intake 1.50 exhaust SS valves.TIA

I just had my heads off a few weeks ago because of a blown HG,
and while I had them at the speed/machine shop getting milled
and a three angle valve job, I inquired about some port work.
I told them that I didn't have a lot of extra money for a full port
and polish job, so they recommended that I just have the bowls/
pockets done. They said this was the biggest bang for the buck
improvement that I could do, and that this area always nets the
biggest gains. So I had them clean out the bowls/pockets and
then I port matched the intake to the heads myself. HTH

If the heads have already been cut for larger intake valves, was a 3 angle valve job done? This is the best starting point for a mild port job. Just blending in the machining, and smoothing the sharp transitions will provide a big difference over stock.

A good rule is don't remove any material from the port floors (other than casting flash) beyond the short side radius.
