I would like to know where to spend most of my time(ie intake exhaust ports, short radius,roof,combustion chambers,pockets) any help is greatly appreciated.iam using 1.77 intake 1.50 exhaust SS valves.TIA
 
I just had my heads off a few weeks ago because of a blown HG,
and while I had them at the speed/machine shop getting milled
and a three angle valve job, I inquired about some port work.
I told them that I didn't have a lot of extra money for a full port
and polish job, so they recommended that I just have the bowls/
pockets done. They said this was the biggest bang for the buck
improvement that I could do, and that this area always nets the
biggest gains. So I had them clean out the bowls/pockets and
then I port matched the intake to the heads myself. HTH

If the heads have already been cut for larger intake valves, was a 3 angle valve job done? This is the best starting point for a mild port job. Just blending in the machining, and smoothing the sharp transitions will provide a big difference over stock.

A good rule is don't remove any material from the port floors (other than casting flash) beyond the short side radius.
