I bought a turbo and downpipe in a package deal off of a board member with an ATR gate. I looked at the turbine housing (Garret .82) hole and noticed the carbon marks show the ported hole in the housing is slightly off-center. I could port it larger a little more on one side if I wanted too. My question is: Can you port the hole too large with an external setup? After all, there is no puck to cover it. There is just the flange, so exhaust gas could not really leak past it. Does this make sense at all? It's kind of hard to explain if you've never seen one, which I hadn't up untill now. Any thouhts or recommendations?
p.s. I know the ATR gate isn't the best, but it's low miles and I'll be sending out to John Craig to get it tweaked. Plus, it was part of the package.
