some advice : next time you send something , use "SIGNATURE CONFERMATION" , DELIVERY CONFERMATION , EXPRESS MAIL , CERTIFIED or REGISTERED (someone gotta sign for it before delivery). make sure you have the tracking label number and go online to see where it was last scanned and where the parcel is presently being shipped. CLERKS & CARRIERS HAVE TO SCAN EVERYTHING ! after the day is over, all parcels scanned are downloaded and then you can get your info. PRIORITY PARCELS usually takes 2 to 3 days. now if you're waiting on something, get the tracking numbers from the shipper right away. packages do sometimes get lost due to customers using wrong zipcodes and mispelling street names and clerks putting parcels in wrong parcel hamper(shipping crate). I SEE THIS ALL THE TIME. i dont know everything that goes on at P O parcel sorting facilities, but ive received parcels that were not mine due to wrong info. as far as letters getting misdelivered, the carrier is not reading the mail which they are supposed to before delivering it, carriers rushing to deliver do make mistakes when you have to go through 500 to 3000 letters or more a day to FINGER-PHUCK when names, addresses & street names damn near look all alike. if your carrier make this common known mistake, all you got to do is inform him and maybe next time he or she will pay close attention. ive been a carrier for 25 years and the customer is not always right. do you guys make mistakes on your jobs ? as far as the 1st post from TURBO 6, ive had customers complain in situation like yours and when i show them and explain when it was mailed, they feel sort of embarrassed for raising hell to me and all i was doing was waiting for the parcel to come, i have to tell customers : when i get it , you'll get it.. . if you see your carrier, you should inform him whats going on with this parcel thats lost, he'll try to help you out (i always do). whenever your parcel show up, lets us know what the problem was. you other guys shouldn't knock someones job until you tried it. our jobs are not easy as you all think it is.

Man...as a Postal worker I have to take this with a grain of salt. I am amazed at how you guy rag on the job the Postal service does. I would love to place one of you in the shoes of a carrier for a day. I want to see you deal with the mislabled packages, some of the rude public, and overall work load of a single day. I'm not asking for a pat on the back for doing what we get paid for, but come on!

Mark, how many packages have you shipped with success this year alone? How many did you come on the board and thank the company for? Yeah, I'm sure the ratio is a bit biased. I have products from you, shipped by the Postal Service, and suggested that others do the same and pointed them in your direction. I guess since you can't offer the same in return I know what to do for now on.

Whitehot1...wow...

Hit a nerve I guess, success ratio IS good but the lost stuff makes up for it. OK, sent a check by regular mail to someone on here I bought something for, never showed up. Sent stuff to someone in WA that ripped me off but can't pursue that at all because PO never shows it as actually being delivered. Countless incidents lately from my engraver in Utah.

I have helped keep you employed the past 10 years so don't bitch at me. AND by the way, MY regular mailman is the BEST and I tell him that every time I see him AND take care of him at Christmas time.

Priority Mail needs to get there act together with thier delivery confirmation deal.

I picked up a TA-49 a couple years ago from a member out of NY. He shipped USPS and I tracked it. It went to Georgia, then back up to NY, then down to Florida, back up to NJ, down to Alabama. Over to Albuquerque, down to El Paso then back down to Georgia. Then over to Dallas. Back up to Albuquerque. BACK down to El Paso and FINALLY up to me in Las Cruces. Took 3 weeks. When I wrote to them they told me to file a claim for lost item. I told them "I can watch it with the tracking number!" Their explaination is that sometimes things get put on a pallet that will go all over like that until the pallet is empty. I saved all the transactions between me and them in case they didn't deliver and claimed it got lost. Bunch of idiots and THAT is probably why the price of stamps keeps going up. To cover the fuel they waste on a daily basis.

I understand that people make mistakes. If I make a mistake at work it could possibly cause a catastrophe or serious loss of production.

I've already talked to my carrier. He suggested I file a complaint with the Postal Inspector, haven't done that yet.

I bet it shows up when I've forgotten about it, and over the loss.

Yes, everyone makes mistakes but the issues with the USPS is created more so by their union than anything else.

About the only way you can get fired is for not delivering mail (delivering to the wrong house is okay) or going postal and shooting everyone in your place of employment. Other than that you're golden.

Some financial mag just did a piece on how the USPS has millions of dollars a week in wages going to people that haven't touched a piece of mail in months. The union protects them against layoff so they just sit and watch TV or read all week. The USPS can't downsize or reorganize to consolodate and cut expenses because the union won't let allow it. So now the USPS is asking for 4 Billion dollars bailout money to meet expenses.

How can it improve when they are not allowed to improve it because of the union?

UPS, Fed EX, and the USPS have all lost/damaged something I've shipped/mailed. Insure it if it means anything to you is all I can say.

UPS crushed a TH400 I received, denied the insurance claim and a vendor off this board ate it and sent me another.
How do you crush a TH400 case?

Mikey

fighterjet, I don't know that anyone has slammed their actual carrier. People have complained about the USPS in other areas. And IMO, these complaints are more than legit. That said, you seem like a great carrier. You do your job and do it well from all indications. The people at the local office I talked to concerning my delivery from Mark were great. They took several days to look into the issue and apologized greatly for the screwup. So try not to take the discussion in here personally. We didn't say YOU suck. :)

Also, what white01 said wasn't all that untrue. I have met people below the level of functional retard that work for the postal service. That said, their siblings who rank about as high on the IQ scale work for my company. Idiots are everywehre.

I think the post office does a great job. I have never had one problem with them in my 40 years of existence. Obviously it could be managed better from a fiscal standpoint, but that's another topic. ;)

My local post office has been the most helpful in this case. So far I've talked to consumer affairs (in New Orleans) and the 1-800-ask-usps and both acted like they couldn't care less. That's what made me start the thread.

Update: mail carrier just passed, nothing again. I wish my bills would get lost, lol.

Here is a good one.. I sold 6 scanner Crystals. these weigh nothing.

The package was 1 once in small bubble mailer.

I pay postage thru paypal at 1.50 cents.

Now I charged on ebay $1.95 cause I knew it would never cost more that that for 1st class.

The buyer sends me a message saying the post office charged her $3.75 on top of the $1.50 I put on.

She is demanding the $4.25 because she said she is sending me the recipt for reimbersment.

I feel like telling her take my original package with the 6 crystals back to your local HICKSVILLE CAROLINA Post office & ask them what it would cost to mail it anywhere in USA. that should not be over 1.95

call the postal inspectors soon as possible since CONSUMERS AFFAIRS were'nt too interested, each time that parcel move from location to another it is supposed to be scanned. thats what the tracking is for. if customers keep complaining about their parcels being lost and not scanned after they paid for the service, the first thing the inspectors are going to do is trace it and see whats causing the problems. i apologize for the inconvenience my co-workers caused, but i hope your parcel shows up .

It was only scanned twice, at it's origin and when it "supposedly" left the sorting facility.
I wish it was being scanned, at least I would have a clue where it was.
